Guys ive just been worndering the difference between the eg6 and the eg9 ..

Ive read various times that the eg6 (sir hatch) is quoted as 170hp but the eg9 (sir sedan) is 160hp.
Do they have the same engine? Distributor? ECU? Cams?
They're both b16aII right?
Where is that 10hp loss?

Also will add why is the auspec b16aII and the jap spec b16aII 160 and 170?

Is it because of the ECU and/or petrol RON ratings? or ...

I believed so too, but ive read on various sites on the internet (maybe that the problem :P and heard from 1 or 2 people there is a 10 hp difference), im just wondering if that is so, why is it so = ]

ive got the jap spec b16a.. came out of a eg6 front cut, and yes, it is 10hp faster... i dont exactly know why the loss is there.. maybe jsut better tuning... ive raced many coupe vti-R's and beat them.. so i guess i can safely say that the jap spec has a 10hp gain over the aus spec b16a's.. oh and it also revs higher... redline starts at 8200, and the aus spec redline starts at like 7900-8000..

a b16 in an EG civic, of course is faster, weight advantage on a 1.6 litre with minimal talk, even 100kg or so means alot..
I know they are 170hp in JAPAN, but in australia you wont get to use that to its full potienal due to our lower RON 98 octane petrol rating...

10hp comes from the slight tuning difference simply due to the fuel difference.

i have no idea why the eg9 is 160hp and the eg6 is 170hp.

10hp is bee's dick anyway.
