Hey guys

Tried searching and nothing really has come up on the basic's of DIY making a pod filter heat shield to keep the coppers happy.

I looked on ebay for some ready made ones but all they are is just a peice of steal. It would probably conduct more heat being metal and thus making it pointless.

Was just wondering if you guys have made pod filter shields/inclosed boxes etc :

- what material(s) did make the box out of
- where did you get the majority of the materials from
- does the shield have to fully enclose the pod or just make a barrier around it
- what is the most effective way of making one

Im sure this thread will help alot of other people in the same situation as I am in!

Cheers

the diy ones i've seen is just made of aluminium sheet metal cut/bent into shape and screwed down where the stock box would be
should be able to pickup what you want from your local bunnings or hardware store

Is it effective not only to meet regulations but keeping heat out of the SRI system though? I was thinking a hard plastic would be more suitable.. or that bendy sort of plastic?

You can buy them real cheap at autobarn, cant remeber the price...... But im pretty sure they are cheap.

well it's just that sheet metal is readily available and easy to cut/bend
plastic's a bit more tricky to get into shape and hold it

to keep heat out of the sri you just really need to cover up the pod and isolate it however you can
theres this (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52057&highlight=airbox) diy a while back, just make something similar

i wouldn't go as far as to say it would make it legal but it's better than having an open pod

i did the similar thing as joe in the above diy, no problems so far with the police, a few times they asked me what was in the box and i replied a pod filter and they left it at that

Looks great dude...

I have a da9 and that pesky battery sits right next to where my pod is so it will be a little harder to put in but ill give it a go using that DIY as a guide over the next few days!

cheers
