My euro need 30000km service. I asked dealer that it would cost $350.

Have you done this service? How much cost you?

I am in Melbourne.

well i think the starting price for the service is around $220.... that is only standard but if ur car has other stuff to fix as in brake pads and other stuff that isn't included in the 30,000 service u have to pay extra.....

Thanks for reply.

I call the 3 dealers, "A" gives $244, "B" gives $355, "c" gives $350,

C is which I will choose the one, I call them they say $250, then I ask the reason why it was $350 before. They explain that standard is $250, including engine oil replace and oil filter replace; $350 is for extra air conditioning filter change.

They can always find out the reason.:(

I remember a 30,000km as just a regular service, you should be getting quoted the same prices as the 10,000km and 20,000km services. Get ready to shit yourself when you reach 40,000km though, just a fair warning, oh and 30,000km is an unlikely mileage to be replacing brake pads, if you drive normally then OEM brake pads should be requiring replacing around 80,000km.
And air conditioning filter replacement ? you may be referring to the in cabin dust filter ?

Hey I asked that exact question today and was quoted $348. The reason why this is higher than previous services is because they would be replacing the pollen filter which costs just under $100

So... is that a "yes" to being a major service? :D

I don't call it a major service. More like a medium service. Major would be 80,000km where you change engine oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, valve clearance check, brake fluid and clutch fluid.

Which dealer is it in Sydney? My car is due for 40K service and the dealer in Parramatta quote me $530, quite expensive.

I have done my 30000km service already, cost me $233.
Main issue is about pollen filter which i mention earlier as "aircondition filter", it would cost around $90 to replace it.

The dealer confirmed the pollen filter's condition was good, so it have been cleaned without replacement. I saved 90 bucks.

My SV6 needs a service every 1yr/ 15,000km.

The Euro needs a service every 10,000km but what time period? or it isn't that important? If it's every 6 months then it sucks for me as in 6 months i'd be lucky to put even 5000km on it.
I only drive about 9000km a year

i wud go by km/s and not time

it wudnt make sense to go by time. so if it takes me 1 year to drive 5000kms as opposed to someone else who drives that much in 3 months. it doesnt make sense for me to service as frequently. even less so because i dont use the car that much

Actually. the opposite is in fact the case. Stop/start short trips are the harshest thing you can do to an engine as the oil never reaches operating temp which takes around 20km (as opposed to coolant temp which is entirely different). If they are the conditions you drive more frequent oil changes are appropriate. If you read your owners handbook it advises 5000km oil changes under harsh driving conditions which means stop/start city driving.

Here is an article from a reputable oil company -

Ideal, or "normal", driving conditions – in other words, what your engine prefers – is trips over 20 km, cruising on the highway, at moderate temperatures and loads, in a relatively clean-air environment. If your driving habits fit this category, you may not need your oil changed as often. "Severe" driving consists of short or frequent trips less than 20km, extreme outdoor temperatures, stop-and-go city driving or extensive idling in traffic, towing or heavy loads, and a dusty or polluted environment. If any of this description fits your driving profile, then your engine would appreciate more frequent oil changes.

How do these different driving conditions affect the engine oil? Driving with the engine cold or under heavy loads, for example, requires more fuel; but this excess fuel can result in unburned fuel slipping past the engine piston rings, and contaminating the oil. Also, normal condensation in the engine crankcase does not sufficiently burn off when the engine is not allowed to reach and/or stay at operating temperature due to short driving trips. This moisture accumulation causes "sludge" buildup over time, which can clog oil passages and damage the engine.

anyone know how much for 40000kms service ??in melb

I had mine today. It cost me $405. On my paperwork I had something called "element assy". Does anyone know what this is? I picked up my car today right at closing time so I didn't get the chance to ask the dealer what that was.

That is nothing but a rip off for what is basically an oil change, maybe an oil filter (thats $58.30 if you buy over the counter) & a Pollen Filter. The cost of dealership servicing is getting totally out of hand.

I have no idea on the cost of an Air Filter as I Haven't had to replace mine as yet (I would be very surprised if it cost more than $50.00 if you were to buy it over the counter). Most of the time the Service Department MARKS UP the cost of buying parts from their own parts department to increase their profit & rip the customer off even more. Another reason I refuse to take my car to dealerships for basic servicing.

I'm in the eastern suburbs, can anyone recommend a good honda dealer for 60,000km service? Also it's probably worth bringing my own engine oil right?

Ringwood Honda is near my house but after going there to visit to help my friend look for a car, not much of a fan to be honest.

Out of interest, I noticed $80 on the service sheet for the pollen filter.
30K service also included a wheel alignment.
