I am just wondering what the differences are between the Australian spec B16A found in the Del Sol and the Jap spec B16A found in my CRX SiR. Which one is better and why?

Cheers :honda:

There are a few varients of the B16A. What you and I have is the gen 1 B16A which puts out 160ps and was found in the 4G SiR Civic and CRX as well as the 'teg XSi and RSi. The Aussie VTiRs (EK4 and EM1) got a 160bhp varient that runs different engine management. They also run different dizzys, one o2 sensor to our two and one or two other differences. Output is slightly in favour of the VTiRs as 160ps doesn't equal 160bhp... but gut instinct is that the difference is negligible.

Quick run down:

JDM B16A gen 1 = 160 ps found in EF SiRs and XSi/RSi. Enginenumber is B16A with no (1) after it - like the yanks like to refer to it.
European B16A1 gen1 = 150bhp found in 4th gen Civics and CRXs (EE9 and EE8)
JDM B16A2 gen 2 = 170ps found in 5th gen SiR and 3G CRX - also found in the 5th gen EK4 SiR.
Aussie spec B16A2 = 160bhp.

LOL - I wish. Nah - most of my specific knowledge is S600/1G/2G/4G Civic related when it comes to Hondas... but having a couple of hundred meg of EF/EE/ED info on the hard drive helps ;)

But I'll sign autographs later :D:D:D

heheh - for some reason the lessons do devolve into the merits of the B16A - and the Skyline 2000GT-R ;)
