hey guys,
the dreaded has happened. got into a mishap yesterday and this is what the front end of the car looks like now:
immediately after the accident the front bumper was being held on by the driver's side fender bolt, and a few clips on the driver's side. it looked like all the passenger's side clips/bolting points were destroyed. the only reason the bumper's still up is because i've cable tied it everywhere possible and used rope for support.
because the clips were all damaged, and the OEM lip is cracked and torn etc, i'm hoping that both parts will be replaced. 2 clip holding points on the mugen grille were also snapped. is that even replaceable, even if it was covered in the policy?
as you can see the headlight washer cover is gone, and the foglight was knocked out of the bumper as well.
luckily its an insurance job, but i'm wondering what options are available? will they repair, or replace, or ?..
if it's a replace job does anyone know the estimated value of the OEM bumper and OEM front lip? thinking of replacing it with something better (if it IS a replace job)
cheers

Sorry to hear of your mishap. I know what it feels like. I went through that at the start of the year when my car was only 7 months old.
They will obviously repair the damage by replacing whatever parts are needed. Basically the whole front bumber is just disposable. Off with the old and on with the new. They may or may not use OEM parts just depending who you are insured with and how old your car is. Mine was repaired with all OEM parts. I got Honda to check over the repairs.
I was given the quote by the repairer so I have a few prices but I'm not sure what all the parts are and some might not be applicable in your case.
These prices are excluding GST:
front bar cover $465
front bar r/h retainer $34
front bar l/h retainer $34
front bar lower grille $112
front bar fog lamp covers $61
front bar cover clips $12
front bar reo $154
front bar l/h slide $14
front bar r/h slide $14
Then you need to take into account paint and labour costs

I've seen CL9 front bars appear on eBay now and then. You'll just have to buy, respray and refit. Not too sure how much they go for though.

thanks for the help! those quotes are really helpful - if the entire bumper needs to be replaced, barring fog light covers, it looks like it will cost around 843ish. factoring in the left foglight, headlight washer and lip, it looks like it might come to over $1000 not including painting and fitting, keeping in mind that this is all covered by the insurance company.
perhaps its time for a full mugen front bar? that would eliminate the need for a lip and foglights. anyone know how much a genuine one can be had for in the melbourne area? if the polyurethane stuff is too expensive, does anyone know where i can get a good fitting fibreglass front bumper?
thanks
hey buddy, you could get a mugen replica bodykit from jetspeed in clayton for around. do you know a panel beater that will help you out? if not, ive got one. Give me a pm if you want info.
