older cars with cable clutches needed adjusting more. your ek will be hydraulically operated but you should be able to still adjust the clutch travel/freeplay at the clutch pedal.

basically you need it at the right adjustment to make sure that when you are pushing the pedal in it fully releases the clutch from the flywheel - reducing wear in the gearbox on gear changes. Be sure that the pedal isnt adjusted so far that there is no freeplay in the clutch pedal though as this effectively means that even when your not pushing on the clutch pedal the clutch is semi released (slipping), which will not give you good clutch clamp, and in more extreme cases will burn the clutch out. You should have about 1cm of slightly slackish feeling in the clutch pedal before it takes more effort to push the pedal down and release the clutch

Yeah as above. You want to have the take-up point away from the very bottom of the floor, but make sure there's still free- play.

sorry to bring back an old post but my clutch (in an ek civic) takes up very high in the travel of the pedal is there a way to adjust it to grab somewhere in the middle?
thanks in advance

if its taking up very high then you can adjust the pedal to make the take up point a bit lower, but by doing this you will probably get rid of all the freeplay in the clutch/pedal so effectively it will be like having your foot a bit on the clutch even when your nowhere near it.

basically your clutch is probably taking up very high because it is worn and needs replacing soon. as the clutch wears the take up point moves up. bottom line, leave it, and start putting money away for a clutch so when it starts to slip you are ready
