well either way youll need an engineer certificate, so for less hassles from the police a b20 would be the go, but a b20 will make u about 130kw atw or so where as a turbo setup you could make 160kw atw and then later down the track you could even whack in a b18c block for more torque/power :D

turtle187
24-07-2009, 12:23 PM
hmm how much is the engineer certificate?

wrong section bruz, but according to your details, you have a VTI, so its SOHC. the only Egs that came in DOHC in aus is the Si

I got a turbo kit fitted last year to my B16a bets thing I've ever done to me car. It will drastically change the way the car drives. I bought a really great Greddy Civic Si kit from the states comes with everything you need. Quality parts. Cost me around $3200 AUS. But the dollar was stronger back then. B16A + Turbo = : )

no cause the once you complete it and its nice and shiny and running nice the smallest curb bump etc causes 600 dollars damage to your guards...or tyres lasting 1/8 of its life span cos of no traction. Or the daily ride height is to low or the suspension is to hard or this or that or mantainence costs alot more and more frequent on a car like this than just having some stock car which you can change the tyres ever 2 or so years and service it every 10 thou and have no problems hitting curbs etc.

I love my civic but all these factors just add together until you think...its worth buying another car and keeping the civic for weekends and appreciating it more. Having more time to keep it clean and running nice. Rather than a work horse where the next day its dirty after you polished it...

I dont care if i was driving a MOKE, if i customized it the way i wanted it, its my car and its not just a MOKE anymore.

i see ur point, but like above, i have been driving it with coilovers, rims, good tyres 240kw all day every day for over a year, and i wouldnt look back....... ;)

what would a turbo b16a ek do down the 1/4 mile?

FastFwd

lol?

dude thats like the vaguest question ever.

What motor build (low comp or high comp)? what PSI, what tyres, what clutch, what gearbox, what LSD, weight reduction? how much power?

thats not even half of it.

I would estimate my eg weighing 950kg to do a 12.2-12.5 with semi slicks. Im running 168kw, Mfactory LSD, Exedy racing clutch, and 235's on the front.

Put up a senario...then a rough estimate could be given...a question like yours would have way to many variables.

stock motor b16a i did 14.0 with 2.4 60footers & a 104MPH.
Has potential to do 12s with the correct adjustments

luke i dont think that power has that much to do with times in a civic. Dialing in a Fwd is alot different to having a 300hp s15 with stock diff, clutch, box etc.

Once you got it dialed in correctly, got a good clutch, nice semi slicks (maybe even full slicks), Nice LSD etc im sure you could get mid 12's with 160-170kw eg/ek.

It would require alot of work, dont get me wrong im just saying its possible.

Yeah its not the power I agree as I've got less power 150kw and I'm at 13.6 107mph

Its the weight if the EK shell that's not helping IMO

Man so jealous, always wanted a sun roof in my eg. I hate it cos occasionaly when im doing some wiring ill take a quick glance at the fuze box and it says "sun roof" with empty fuzes and i keep thinking its just there to rub it in my face.

Everyone that has one says they dont want it in the EG and everyone that doesnt have one says they want one. So annoying

I know this sounds like a stupid question and im sorta hijackin this thread but the whole roof panel on an EG is separate to all the other panels. Isnt there anyways of rippin that out and putting a VTI one in with complete sun roof assembly etc.

yer i remember reading somewhere that you just drill through the spot welds at the top of the a/b/c pillers and just take the whole roof off and replace it with another one

Yeh i would rather replace it with the civic one rather than cut out my current roof and put one of those universal ones it. But rewelding the new roof on will never be the same as it was originally so that could be a bad thing.
