Buying a car, and I want to know how to tell if the clutch is good or bad on it, how can you tell?

You can 'guess' how much a clutch has worn by how much it slips, but there is no way to really tell if the clutch is good or bad if it works, all clutches act differently.

try this trick... drive the car at a constant speed and (without taking your foot off the accelerator) quickly push down and release the clutch pedal in a quick motion. If the clutch is good it should engage again with a noticeble thump. If it doesnt and slowly picks up speed again, then its slipping. Thats a tried and true method, but can be rought on the clutch so do it once.

Friction point on the pedal. Where it grabs.

ALL hondas fitted with hydraulic systems with an OEM clutch will have around about the same area of friction point.
Cable always differs.

Loss of pedal can be caused by leaking masters or slaves.
But the feel of a lost pedal can mean a fcuked clutch pressure plate or the clutch is gone it self.

Drive the car, in first, redline.
This sorta takes an experienced driver, unless its extremely severe, but you can feel it slip.
With hondas (with vtec) they make power very high in the rev range. You should never feel a drop in power or difference in power near the top end.
Usually a slipping clutch lets you feel this. Best to try at a very high incline.

Put it in the highest gear. let the clutch out slowly. It should stall straight after the friction point
If you feel it shudder and shake and all sorts. Its either fcuked or on its way out.

take off in third. you shouldn't be able to do it in a car with a good clutch.

the best i think is listen between hard and fast changes it should be quick rev drop not slow like a automatic transmission sounds.
