Im currently trying to pimp out the handling of my 99 lude, so was wondering wat brands are good and worth the money. atm im looking for:
- front and rear strut bars
- Front and rear sway bars
- Tower strut
- Pads
- rotors
- Springs and shocks ( im told kyb agx + ground control coilovers = win )
Also in the market for some new wheels, what kind of wheels would look awesome with a white bb6? Ive browsed through most of the pictures and all and still dont have a solid choice. Any help to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

get everything whiteline, good bang for buck,
and for spring and shocks, i dont know who makes bb6 coilovers, but try skunk2 or yeah kyb agx shock and spoon progressive spring ?

i second whitline for the sways and struts, good gear
for the pads up-spec Bendix pads are good ones and slotted rotors from RDA or DBA will do you
kyb agx shocks are brilliant, couple that with a good quality progressive spring and you'll be laughing
oh yeah the wheels! i personally love black wheels on a white 5th gen

From eveyrones views, i see that the kyb agx + gc springs are a great option. Sweet ill order them in asap!
However, regarding the struts some people, say spoon, others cusco, neuspeed. So im not so sure. Is whiteline better than these in terms of quality for its price?

were u located, get second hand brand name struts like JIC or cusco, works out cheaper. and same shiet.
if you in brisbane get JIC, the distributor is here, and its cheap and pro quality

Nah im in sydney, The guys at jdmyard, have the front and rear cusco set for $520. is that worth it?
hisoka
28-07-2009, 08:35 PM
is that posted lol damnn is that how much struts are.
get second hand if ure on budget. i would get second hand anyway. you could pick up a whole set of cusco second hand for like 300 bucks or so less maybe.

Nah i can afford it, but i just want whats best for my money. JDMyard does seem expensive, but is one of the best places to get honda parts...btw is 550 for injen CAI, and 800 for fujitsubo headers for the bb6 expensive?

nah mate get whatever brand you can find cheapest, or like the other guy was saying second hand. it really doesnt matter which brand coz its just a bar, BUT DO NOT CHEAP OUT AND ORDER SOME EBAY NO NAME CRAP
i personally have a neuspeed front strut bar and its fantastic and very strong, probably the best design for the preludes IMO as it has no connecting base plate, the bar is joined straight the the strut tower. Many people also have the same bar as it seems to be one of the few companies that actually make a strut bar for the prelude
whiteline is just easy to find, good quality and pretty cheap is all. Shelling out 500 bucks for a bar coz its got a spoon sitcker on it is just stupid.

Yeh i was leaning towards the neuspeed, more people suggested that anyway. What abt the sways thou? go wif neuspeed as well? Are there any neuspeed dealers in the Sydney area?

everybody i know runs whiteline swaybars
a 3rd gen prelude, 3 wrx's and even an old cortina and everyone is happy with the performance
so i'd recommend a whiteline adjustable rear swaybar, not that theres anything wrong with the neuspeed stuff, i think its just cheaper to go whiteline (i stress i think)
520 for the cusco struts is allright and its also quality gear, but theres cheaper stuff to be had. For example i got my front strut for 100 bucks.
If you have the money and its no problem then go for it but you can save some money is all im saying

yeh i get what your saying. ill go with neuspeed strut and whiteline sways. ALso about the gc springs, are they stiff? does it make the ride more bumpy? i read that on like #4 damper setting its soft, but still stiffer than stocks. So will the ride still be comfortable as so that i dont feel every bump in the road?

this guys got the idea. but yeah lol 520 for cusco struts:zip: as soon as you sell them there worth like 100 bucks each.
struts drop like half price as soon as you open the packet, then another 50 bucks when u install the bastards.

^lol hisoka's spot on with parts depreciation
in regards to the GC springs, personally i have no experience with them so i cant really comment, how much lower are they than stock, coz as a general rule lower means bumpier.
but seeing as your getting adjustable shock absorbers, you can set them soft and get a great ride anyway (then stiffen them up when you wanna go fast), youll definately be happy with them coming from decade old stock shocks

lol sweet as. thanks for your help, both you guys. really cleared things up for me! ill let you's know how it goes when ive got it all in.
oo ALso another thing, ive been in the market for some wheels and im look for the dc5 typeS 17"s i recon they look awesome on the lude as shown in the pic. do you's know roughly how much the set is, knowing honda dealers, they'll charge what i call their crazy "honda tax". ALso in the pic, notice the side skirt. Its not as flary as the wwrs skirt, but bigger than the stock. I have the front lip so i want that skirt to even out the look of the clearance. do you know what skirt that is?

thats peejays car^
his sideskirt is the OEM lip kit, i have the same kit
as for the wheels, they look great and for gods sake dont go through honda, youll have to look around on ebay and some forums and hopefully youll find a set. What size wheel are you looking for? the ATTS Prelude wheels are imo very nice but theyre 16". Just a thought

^theyre really nice
yeah if you wanna find those dc5 wheels at a shop your best bet is Honda specialists, im not a local to NSW so i dont know any up there. But scour the internet too, its the best way to find stuff.
the lip kit is the same deal, it can also be gotten through honda but you'll have to sell your sole and that of your childrens too :P
you said you had a front lip? is it the OEM one or another type of lip coz most people have a full OEM kit if they have it (front, side and rear skirts) as it was a dealer option when new.

nah i bought the car wif the mugen replica front bumper. and i replaced it coz it was trashed. So I bought the front bumper from the jap spares and it came wif the front lip. too bad i didnt buy the rest of the kit while i was at it.. = (...but one thing that was good was that i got the other grill with the prelude tag on it. Love that grill, no ludes in my extended area carry the grill so i feel special :D
btw, the Honda specialists. is that the site? tried googling it but comes up wif nothing.

28-07-2009, 09:53 PM
haha damn you! people flog that grille for like 250bucks it quite sought after!
yeah jsut get the rest of the OEM kit man, its really nice, especially the rear lip, it give it a real fat stance from behind
Li0nHe4rt
28-07-2009, 10:06 PM
really 250?! the jap spare shop in my area always getss bb6 parts in and they sold the grill for abt 80, i got mine for 70!........hmmm...(money making opportunity????) lol.
Yeh i like the kit but to me it seems like the rear lip doesnt look like it fits well on the white ludes. Like there is a very noticable like between the lip and the rest of the bumper. It looks like it doesnt really belong. Like below. is that how it normally looks?
http://www.preferredvalleyhomes.com/new001.jpg
what about this rear under spoiler? looks like it fits better.... i dont know lol

i think the kit in that picture looks abit big because theres not boot spoiler and its been cleanly badged so theres a large expanse of white.
honestly i think it looks good, better than the way the stock bumper suddenly drops away
this is mine just for comparison:

Yeh i recon the entire kit looks sxc on every other colour except white. im mixed about the rear lip on white. But i recon eventually ill have the entire kit on, for completeness lol
but do you know what that other rear lip is in the second pic i posted?
rbk_212
28-07-2009, 10:37 PM
nah i dont but it looked pretty similair.. just abit chunkier
i guess you'll just have to look around and see if you find something you like that goes with the rest of the kit
Li0nHe4rt
28-07-2009, 10:40 PM
lol i guess. thanks for ur help man, greatly appreciated! btw heres the link for the site that sells the grills. http://justjap.com.au/
i checked and they dont have any in stock atm, but you should call up and ask if you want it. = )

haha hey thanks man! i really want it with the ATTS badging in it, ive seen the badge on ebay but its like 80 bucks by itself!
just for future reference id recommend preludeaustralia.com if you have any more questions. its a great forum and most people that now theyre preludes on here and members there anyway.
