you look like youve got the stock shiftboot collar on, might need to change it to something else

wat i did on my mates car was take out that silver thing.
then u hold the shit boot just under the gearknob and lift the rest of it, so its pretty much inside out above the gearknob.
then cable tie(tiny one) just under the gearknob but leaving .5cm of fabric under the cable tie.
then u put click the plastic trim back into place and push the cable tie right up under the gearknob.

makes sense? lool

Hey guys, seenthe thread you guys posted up, didnt like the fact of taking apart the centre. So i got a rubber grommet, i got mine from 4x4 accessories or soemthing on newbridge road in chipping norton... All i did, was take off the gearknob n nut, and stuck this grommet down into the top bit of the shift boot, and then put back on the knob, and it fits so snug!

here are before and after pictures :D

Grommet

Looks good,

i was thinking about ordering a complete new aftermarket boot for my S but i might try this out first, what are the specifics of the gromit??

umm, it fit very snugly into the hole at the top, so your best bet is to taek off yuor gear knnob, and measure the diameter... mine fit very snugly, and as you can see from the picture, it isnt totaly sitting flush (the grommet inside the top of shift boot), i jsut kept on pushing and pushing it inside. so its prolly 1-2 mm longer in daimeter than the actualy hole at the top of the shift boot.
