correct me if i'm wrong but......in aus the EH chassis (same as eg) came with either the D16A8 (si) or the D16Y1 (vti)?????

as far as i know the d16b4 and d16b7 came in the gl and gli respectively which have the EG8 chassis code, unless you have an import with the d15b jdm spec

alll d series are interchangable

providing you swap over the passenger side mount from the engine being transplanted! For example, to fit the D16Y1 you will need the D16Y1 engine mount (with the two posts) to fit into the connecting mount.

but all are interchangeable with gear box etc.

peter, do you "have" to change that mount, because i was speaking to a guy in frankston (ok ok, yeah i know) who had done a d16y1 swap into a ed7 and he said that he had all stock mounts.

Correct. All D Series gearboxes should be straight bolt up.

I don't know about an ED7 but the ED6 required the engine mount from the D16Y1 connected to the original chassis mount from the D15B4. It gives a slight angle on the mount but acceptable. The D15B4 engine mount wouldn't fit.

wait so did you connect one mount to another, or remove the d15 one and replace it with the d16?

i ask because im building a d16y1 now. going nuts on it too (aiming for 220+ at the flywheel) bought it not long after i msg'd you that time, and have been building it ever since. running it off 2 dcoe 40mm webers just for something different.

P.S i bought the mount your talking about just in case. i was going to try it first without it then if it didn't work i would use the d16 one

When I first started I had the D15B4 mount and engine mount together. But the D15B4 engine mount doesn't line up on the D16Y1 engine so I had to use the D16Y1 engine mount and attach it to the D15B4 mount. What happens is that it then makes the mount (on the inside guard) slope to the front slightly.
