Looks like Honda is out of the storm.

The link reads:

Honda has announced earnings for the quarter ending June 30, and the results were more than a little surprising. While analysts expected a loss of 106 yen ($1.1 billion US), Honda instead turned an operating profit of 25.2 billion Yen ($267 million US).

Honda's surprise profit comes in part because of the success of the hybrid Insight in Japan, where the suddenly strong Yen doesn't run into currency exchange issues. Honda is forecasting continuing currency issues, as the automaker sees the yen gaining still more ground verses the US dollar later in 2009. The hot-selling Fit and always strong Accord are also helping the bottom line, helping stabilize sales while companies like Toyota continue to see theirs sagging.

Automotive News is reporting that Honda's Q1 earnings were strong enough for the conservative automaker to raise its 2009 earnings forecast from 40 billion yen ($420 million US) to 70 billion yen ($737 million US). Honda has reportedly also raised its vehicle sales forecast by 85,000 units, to 3.295 million vehicles for 2009.

Wonder if it has anything to do with the twits that bought the overpriced 4door FN2 Civic Si lol? The bit that reads 106yen = $1.1USDBillion should = 106 Trillion or 106 Billion??

But can we be expecting the revival of the Acura NSX aka GT-R fighter project and the upcoming CR-Z on its way? Only time will tell...

GO HONDA!!

So glad I bought a Honda :honda:

Pretty funny though, they were expecting a loss and made HUGE!!! Profits

Japan's economy is really suffering, lots of people out of work,so big sales in the Hybrid car should definately be expected with people wanting to slash thier fuel bills!

I thought the whole idea of the hybid was to save fuel costs.Surely it must be a lot better than the above?

its a bit better, a good turbo diesel can get 6L/100

the hybrid isnt much better.....def not worth the extra dollars to buy

not to mention getting rid of it after it dies, recycling is alot more difficult and expensive, which means they will prob sit around in a dump for much longer which is very bad as it has toxic components all over it, the battery just to name one, is hugeeee

OMG.JAI xD

I doubt honda will continue with the nsx.

If they do it will be probably the next iconic honda supercar. It will live on like its predecessor for many years, hated by most but compared by the best.
