I'm not sure there's actually anything in T&C to stop it.

Someone could have t-onedc2 (lowercase "t") or urfather.

"VTEC" is written a few ways like VT3C, V7EC etc.

For discussion's sake what potential issues do you identify?

well i was thinking of registering T_onedc2 and going around impersonating you

you posted this in site "discussion" so lets make a start, but if it's just a whinge then it's closed.

you could probably check the ips if your implying its the same person, and was there anything wrong with SiR_JDM's past?

Perhaps if this forum actually handled personal/sensitive information on each member, then it would pose a real issue.
But as it stands, its just a forum.
You post at your own risk - members need to exercise common sense.

The hyphen vs. underscore and upper vs. lower case situations dictate the differences in our usernames.

If you feel someone has emulated your username to stir trouble, then inform a moderator.

Imposter ^^^^^

Luc, once again, you are taking this to another extreme.
You cannot deliberately emulate another member.

Further more, you cannot have more than ONE account at any given time.

why doesn't he get banned on his main account for breaking the rules?

yourfather
01-08-2009, 01:30 AM
that Q-Ball was an imposter. I've only ever had one account.

That is why Q-Ball was banned by Q_Ball

Q_ball

^ Bans occur as a result of an accumulation of infraction points Burak.
Only in extreme cases do we outright ban a member for violation of rules.

SiR_JDM and SiR-JDM both registered.

As said they are two different names (hyphen vs. underscore). Usernames are not case sensitive though (ie the username vtec and VTEC are treated as the same).

The main account (one that has been there longer will get an infraction) and the second account gets disabled. So if your original account has some infractions already......that could result in a ban of the main account.
