for a b18c your prob looking at anywhere better $6500-$9000 depending on wether you do all the work yourself or get it done at a machanic but you have to keep in mind you will need hasport mounts as well as a 5lug conversion. your best bet is to find a half cut as it will have nearly everything you need as in shifter linkages front 5lug and possibly ecu

Half cut is also called a front cut right? Where it's just a whole chassis thing correct?

umm not exactly front cut is from the front of the windscreen where as half cut is from where the middle of the car is just as your front door finishes so it would include seats if they are in the car and the dash

I recommend this thread: http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2021&highlight=b18c+half+cut

If u read this, it should answer most of your questions.

K20a lol your looking at about 12k just for the engine and that will require alot of mods lol i would stick to either B18c JDM Type r, B18c7 Aus Type r, or if your looking 2 spend a bit less you can go for B16b JDM Civic Type r you can pick one of them up for about 4k on ebay or if u got an even lower budget you can get a B16a which arnt that quick but will still beat your standard sss and that lol i would recommend either B18c or B16b if your feeling a bit adventurous lol

Thanks Ninzee :)

I would not put a B16A in my car anyways, lol it's over-rated and it's not gonna make much difference, If I wanted to put B16A in I should of bought EK instead. :P

for a b18c your prob looking at anywhere better $6500-$9000 depending on wether you do all the work yourself or get it done at a machanic but you have to keep in mind you will need hasport mounts as well as a 5lug conversion. your best bet is to find a half cut as it will have nearly everything you need as in shifter linkages front 5lug and possibly ecu

Wrong info, you do NOT need hasport mounts OR a 5 lug conversion for a B18C conversion. B18C's use the stock engine mount positions as the D-series engines so you can use the stock engine mounts on the B18C, and why would you need 5 lug for an engine transplant?

B18C2 - $3-4k
JDM B18C (SIR) - $3.5-4.5k (JDM version of B18C2)
B18C7 - $5-7k
JDM B18C (DC2R) - $6-7.5k

Also DC5R comes with K20A(2?), while DC5S comes with K20Z.
For a K20 conversion you'll need to budget $12-15k for a good build including but not limited to:
Engine
Gearbox
Engine mounts
Adaptor plates for shifter
K-pro ECU
Wiring loom
Driveshafts
Larger brakes
Headers
Exhaust

B18c= 1996 JDM type r
B18c1= JDM vtir

B18C2 - $3-4k
JDM B18C (SIR) - $3.5-4.5k (JDM version of B18C2)
B18C7 - $5-7k
JDM B18C (DC2R) - $6-7.5k

that and add an extra 1k minimum for labour.
Some places do it for cheaper, some are dearer.

Otherwise, learn to do it yourself. It's not overly
difficult. Especially if your generation of onboard diagnostics
is the same (EG. OBD1 -> OBD1)

You must also accomodate for extra parts you will
need along the way. For example, if you're using stock
EG radiator, you will need the B18C radiator hoses if
they did not come with the engine and extra hose clamps.

Also, what if some parts are missing from the engine that
you buy, e.g. engine mount? You either gotta chase things
up or you gotta fork out the extra yourself.

I would suggest you to change things like clutch, thermostat,
water pump, timing belt etc if necessary.

So prepare at least an extra $2,000 including parts and labour
just for the engine conversion.

You also have the rest of the package to think about.
Although true you do not need to change suspension
or brakes in order to install these engines,
(except DC2R - 36mm driveshaft nuts rather than EG and DC2 32mm)
DO NOT expect it to behave like it used to.
All else being stock,

Your shocks and springs are not designed to hold
the extra weight from D16 to B18C. The extra
weight will become a detriment to your handling.

For example your EG5 has 93kw.
If you were to install a JDM B18C it would bump up to 147kw.
You have an increase of 58% in peak power.
You will have very little braking power , do not even start to think
about vtec'ing it anywhere. B18C's in EGs are capable of
0-100 in the 6 second range with the correct tyres. They can
be lethal without adequate braking power.

What about tyres? 14"x5.5" roadworthy tyres really gonna
do the trick for the 1.8L ?

There is a SIGNIFICANT cost in a conversion like this.
Sometimes it's a good idea to chase other aspects
of your car first before power.

Kindest regards
Michael

B18C1 = USDM VTI-R motor

B18C = used on all Japanese VTI-R equivalents (aka SiR-G) and Type Rs

B18C2 = AUDM VTI-R motor

well if you want to get your moneys worth. H22a wouldn't be a bad idea.
however if you search firesport and the parts for sale thread there are heaps of people selling b18r engines. some offer installation aswell. hope that helps
look foward to see how ur project comes along.:thumbsup:
