Hey guys own a Civic EG5 Si, my idle is around 900-1000, is that normal? Or should it idle less?

you can adjust it, but normally at operating temperature it'll be around the 700 mark

How can you change it?

And what does idle-ing actually do? Someone explain

idle.. means the engine is on? I think normal would be 700-800 at full running temp. 900-1000 is somewhat higher but I don't think it would cause detrimental damage :)

Eg speedo is not as accurate . If you see the facia is very small and does not have the minute increments.

900-1000 is normal. Your car is idling at around 800rpm in real time.

Easiest way to find out is put a tacho on. By that i mean a multimeter with tacho/rpm function.

My only guess is that it isnt a high powered engine. Idling a little bit higher compensates for any stationary load ie. Power steering without moving. a/c. And so on.

If the idle is still high even with an multimeter tacho on, there are a few causes for it. Abit too many factors. But it sounds normal to me.

You cant compare a 92-95 model car to a 2007> car. Fuel delivery, timing, spark strength, fuel octane rating etc etc is engineered completely different.

Back then we didnt even have 98 octane. Let alone 105 octane, e10, e85.

Is this an issue? is it stalling?

Hmmmm, when I 1st start it up, I give it abit of gas, the car shakes and sounds like it gonna turn off, but when it's warm or something, it doesn't do it. It turned off on me once but while I was giving it gas.
