Just having a bit of a strange issue. A few months ago i had a B18c2 but in my integra gsi. Everything seemed fine until I drove a friends vti-r. I noticed that in his car there was a noticable change in engine note around 4500 (vtec) and then another at about 5800 (secondaries). In my car there is only a noticable change at 5800, but none at 4500, unless you pull the vacume hose off the secondaries. When you do this there is not only a noticable change in sound at 4500, but the car also feels quicker and seems to have better throttle response. I've spoken to a couple of people now and no one seems to be able to figure it out. Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of anything like this before? Thanx heaps in advance...

Are your intakes the same?
Are your exhausts the same?
Are your headers the same?

If he has more mods than you it would be obvious. Also, has he removed his resonators while you've left yours in?

Other than a different brand intake, both cars are stock as.

The difference in intakes could be the sole reason behind it.

mine was similar i have a b18c2 vtir teg, and i could only hear a change at 5800 when i had jus an intake, but once i got a cat-back exhaust, the 4500 sound came extremely noticeable compared to when vtec actually kicks in at 5800. when it does kick in, i have to listen carefully to hear vtec
