hi all, im in urgent hope
this is the story
im on my Ps and just getting into honda's
i just got an engine conversion ..
put a b16a in my eg5
when i put it in gears, accellerate, all it does is accellerate nothing else?
car doesn't move..
i've put it into gear.. and clutched it to the friction point, then my engine starts wobbling?
i put it into reverse, friction point then it makes a noise.
anyone can help me out? i need to get my car running.. GOT MY TRIALS AND HSC SOON :(
i heard it might be my box, but i want to make sure.
thanks alot guys.

who performed the conversion?

If it was a backyard job, theres your first problem, its probably no biggie

yeah it was kind of a backyard job, my mate did it, but his a qualified mechanic so yeah, he had all the tools we needed and such.

sounds like the gears arnt engaging properly? maybe... are you getting the full throw for the gear stick / linkages / gearbox selector shaft (whatever its called) if thats not it, its a good chance the gearbox is rooted.. im not the most mechanically minded person on ozhonda so you are going to get alot more in depth answers then mine, but just to point you in the main direction

and dont worrie i did a backyard conversion on my own with no idea how to even change the oil... took a little bit longer then say a shop or a mechanic would do it but its all turned out good. aslong as you dont take shortcuts

Pm Bennjamin, he is your only hope now.

Ok.

Does it make any noises?

Have you taken any pictures of the under carrage (might spot something)

yes it makes noises, like i said when i put it in gear then clutch it to friction point the engine starts wobbling, but not the wheels and it makes noises.

But what kind of noise.

Was the car auto before the swap?

btw, message Bennjamin the moderator, he should be able to help you.

Have you checked things like the drive shafts are pushed and locked into the gearbox? When the engine shakes at friction point is it just a shake or a hard rocking? If u put the car in neatral does it roll or is it "stuck" I'm surprised nobody has asked questions like these yet instead of "ask Benjamin" he may be good but I wasn't awake that he's psychic lol

I'm using my EG5 wiring loom on my B16A without a problem

Just needed to wire in 02 4 wire sensor and knock sensor... everything ells is straight plug & play

OK

So you can feel the clutch bite as you release the pedal?

Used DC2/EG6 drive shafts?
Used DC2/EG6 shift linkage?

Who did you buy the motor off?

just though of that so i came running into this thread and you beat me to it.. take your wheels off and give your drive shafts a tap with a rubber mallet... process of ellimination

dosnet sound like anything elctrical wise would be something mechanical. Gotta check clutch installed right, fly wheel bolted on (sounds dumb but who knows), driveshafts both in properly the gearbox.

Have you tried in other gears 2, 3, 4? See if engine stalls or not? Definitly drivetrain problem, start at the begining pull the gear box of see if clutch, flywheel etc all good. Might simpley be worn friction plate.

Sounds like mechanical. SO either shafts, clutch, gearbox, diff and etc.

could be anything, if it's the gearbox which i'm 99% sure you have to pull it out to know what the problem is,, could be clutch, could be gears, box could be rooted and all smashed up into pieces depending on how it's been on the box life,

i reckon it's ur clutch not biting well - if it shakes, it's reached fric. point, but not enough to move the car.

Like the others have said, it could be anything really.

it is not the clutch, i was driving it a few days before it went wrong. i got someone to come over and open the box. when we opened it the box it was all broken inside, like pieces not together. what do you guys think??
