Hi, my name is Juggy and i own a 1990 :honda: Civic, Sep 90 build, and recently the timing belt has let go. :(
So i want some advice as to what i should do, the meter says its done 180000km's, and as fun its current motor had been, im wonerding if i can, could or even should see about an upgrade?
I dont have a load of cash as i cant work due to health problems, so whats the best option. i was thinking on fixing this one and saving to imrpove or upgrade but im not really sure.
ANY IDEAS WELCOME
PS. i live in S.W Vic
thank you

mmm, Welcome to Ozhonda.
Shame about the Engine.
mmm, you drive a manual I assume?
Why not spend a little bit of Money and throw a D16y1 in there, it will require fuel injection but that is very cheap if you can find a wrecked CRX tank/lines/etc
Pics of the girl?

i wouldnt suggest an upgrade,
judging by what youve said and not having ' loads of cash' perhaps you could put whatever cash u have into better things in life and save this passion for a little later,
reason being, is for example the d16y1 that lloyd suggests isnt that great, imo will feel like more of keeping the car alive and having a car to drive as opposed to a eral ' upgrade'

Replace the timing belt.Drive it until it can drive no more.If you have no money then dont start spending what you do have on cars cause it adds up!!

Thanks guys, moneys not a HUGE problem, just dont want to spend to much if its not worth it. Get another from the wreckers and make a semi-slow project of it maybe! ;-)

Well a b16 is a cheaper option or a b18c if you have a bit more coin..

Well we bit the bullet and just got it fixed. $680 latter its running sweet again. Got the timimng belt, tensioner and seals all done, aswell as the rocker gasket and Sparkplug seals (they cost extra cause of freight). OH and the water pump was on its way out too, so now ots done!
Now its due for its regular service, oil and filters, but im gunna give the poor girl a new set of leads while im at it, should keep her outta trouble for a few years then! I HOPE!!!
Thanks again for your help, please feel free to leave any idea for future ref.
