So yeh anyone on here do they own car respray? What is involve? What you need? What budget? etc....

Can doing it yourself properly be as good as taking it to a shop?

Post pics of your own re-spray aswell. Thanks!

pretty stupid question, just use your logic.

anyone can do it, how good it'll end up and how much its gonna cost you is all up to you and what you do.

if you've had no exp in painting at all, trying on your car is the worst thing you can do lol.

Get a few panels and try there.

you need (off the top of my head)

- prep sol
- various grits of paper
- paint
- clear
- primer
- bog (fix up any dents)
- air compressor
- decent gun
- Orbital buffer and cut compound (for later)

Well anyone know a good respray shop doings resprays on the car for around 1 grand? Which is actually decent? (In Sydney)

If you have never done it before, than i would not recommend DIY!

If you have friends who are spray painters to help you out, than by all means go for it!

Practice makes perfect:thumbsup:

Here are examples of backyard spray;

Hi All, I'm looking for good value spray painting, but I couldn't find a number for LAMS smash repairs or Prototype, both of which are mentioned in this thread. Can anyone help me out with the phone numbers?
Thanks,
Gordon.

In regards to DIY and practicing on a few panels. Is a gravity fed spray gun from super cheap auto sufficient? or would a more expensive one be required?
