Not to be out done by our European counterparts a similar event is being organised for an Australian wide meet to be organised for Honda S2000 owners.

Please note, we are organising a billeting system where owners from WA, SA and NT who wish to fly as the drive may be too much for them.

When - 23th, 24th, 25th October 2009
Where - Coffs Harbour
Link - http://s2000ausmeet.org

P.S The thread would not me choose no Prefix

This is an event not to be missed.

how long do you think the drive will be from Melb to Coffs Harbour? Google is telling me 16 hours :O

It'd be about 15 hours from Melbourne, but I don't think it's that bad a drive. I used to drive interstate often in the S2000 for several hours at a time, including several non-stop Sydney-Brisbane (12 hours) and Canberra-Brisbane (15 hours) trips. From Melbourne, I would drive up to Sydney the night before and stay there the night - perhaps some of the Sydney crew would be kind enough to allow a few folks to stay the night - before heading up to Coffs from Sydney in the afternoon with the Sydney crew. It'll be a great drive, and we may not ever meet like this again; it'd be a shame if you missed it.

Would love to see more Victorians at the meet.

Sounds about right, gotta remember that doesn't including stopping resting etc. That's solid 16 hours of driving, then 16 hours back. Could consider that your "weekend away" :D
My cars just not comfortable enough for a 32 hour drive, for me or the missus

The event has also been featured in the latest Autosalon magazine, page twenty something from memory.

Guys, If you are a bit daunted with the task I would suggest some of the Melb folks leave a bit early, I for one will be happy to put up as many people the night before at my place.. provided you dont mind bringing your own sleeping bags etc

G'day guys,

Just a reminder that registration closes soon on Wednesday September 23 - that's less than two weeks away. So get cracking on the rego!

If you're from the Brisbane/Gold Coast area and you are keen to come, let me know - I'm part of the organising committee and will be coordinating the convoy down from Brisbane. I'll provide you with some more details about the Brisbane convoy.

This should be a great event, so hopefully we can get several S2000s to celebrate 10 years of S2000.

Mike

Not sure what the Sydney group have organised, but I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem joining their convoy.

awh dam :( honestly if its on this year or next year on a different date ill be there

i think it should be held somewere half way between melb and bris and advertised on more websites or in the papers or hot4s/fast fours magazines... not every s2k owner is an ozhonder member thats why registrations would have been low.

on the down side were will you get the funds to advertise in papers and magazines accross australia and on the radio etc??? :( :( :(

also how many registrations were there if you dont mind me asking?
And how many were needed or expected?

ludecrs
29-09-2009, 09:25 PM
6 paid, 22? or 28 listed.

I admit I didn't pay by the due date, primarily for all intent and purposes, I had a feeling it wouldn't have gone ahead due to a lack of numbers.

Well I guess you and 21 other people got your wish.

ooz200

Its very disappointing when I see someone take the initiative to organise something like Ausmeet and people are to slack to bother to register. Wake up people.

And to think people complain when there's nothing happening. GEEEESSS !!!

ludecrs

Well I guess you and 21 other people got your wish.

C'mon, bit harsh...

I have taken the time off work for the event, still have...

I think you know where I'm coming from tho.. I would of paid, but chose not to because I knew it would happen, like every other year thats come prior.

For example, I organised a BBQ meet a while back. Free snags and steaks for a get together. I think I had 22? S2000 from SE QLD listed as attending...

15 or 16 turned up, and that was to a free sausage sizzle meet n greet.

What chance have you got to drawing 22 owners nationwide for something thats going to cost $400 and take XXXKM's to get there? You know what the S2000 crowd is like these days... its like drawing blood out of a stone...

Age, we heard you the first time.

For half way between Melbourne and Brisbane is Sydney BTW.

Adrenalin, I wasn't trying to be harsh. It's a case of you either want it to happen, or are waiting for everyone else to commit before you do. We had far too many of the latter and not enough of the former.

Come on, six registrations? Out of how many EOIs? That's pathetic.

It was in the autosalon magazine :)
Rather it be in Autosalon magazine then Hot/Fast 4's.

If it was a track event at Wakefield for all s2000's That would be a bit more tempting :)

Forgot that you were going...!
Yesss I won't feel so alone amongst the Evos and Silvias :p

But yes shame on the meet... I never registered even a EOI simply because of the distance involved.
I suppose an ideal thing would be to collect EOI and determine locations of possible attendees, then organise the meeting location after that?
You could have 2 S2000s from Brisbane, then 50 from Melb and Sydney only for the location to be closer to Brisbane... which wouldn't really be ideal...

Just constructive input.. no offense intended! I understand the amount of organisation behind it, so definately a shame...
