Hey guys,

I'm not that mechanically minded so I've come on here to ask what sort of problem I have with my car.

My car is a manual 04 Civic EU3 hatch and its done appx 127,000 km's. I've just started noticing its making a deepish vibrating noise coming from the engine bay (kind of like a cats purr) whenever I'm in the low revs specifically on 1st and 2nd gear. When I move up in the gears I dont notice it anymore. It will come up after the cars warmed up and has been driven for abt 10 mins. Just wanted to know whether this is a transmission problem or a clutch problem or something else? Hope this information is enough for you to help me figure out what problem I've got, as I dont want to head into the workshop and be ripped off by dodgy mechanics who tell me I need half my engine components replaced.

Cheers,

Clem.

what is the rpm when you mean low revs clem? have you checked whether your exhaust is hanging on the rubbers properly? just have a look in your engine bay and under the car to make sure everything is in the right place before taking it to a professional. i get a bit of vibrating at lower revs sometimes, and it's because my downpipe was screwed on unevenly so sometimes it hits the undercarriage. getting it fixed when i put on my test pipe! w00t! have you had any work/adjustments made recently? i'm only guessing, can't really tell. maybe a sound/video clip would help!

I have something similar and it was my resonator in my exhaust being busted and the inside rattles between 2 - 3,000 rpm. It only happens after the car has warmed up because the metal has expanded. :)

Thanks for the feedback guys, any way of visually inspecting this from underneath the car, what do I look for in specific? btw I've got a modified 2" sports exhaust from cat back.

when did you get the exhaust put in? check the rubber hangers that hold your exhaust from the car body, maybe one has come off? or it could be the resonator problem like malew stated above? sorry im not much help.

could it be your spark plugs?
