Hi guys,

so my b16a swap is turning over, but is idling rough, for a few seconds, then dies. if i open up the throttle, it'll die quicker. fuel pressure is within specs

there was an intermittent EACV code being thrown, but thats been fixed and isn't an issue. there's a Vtec pressure code being thrown too, but i'm assuming that won't affect the idle.

any ideas?

thanks

*EDIT* Issue resolved, the map sensor was wired incorrectly. Its been fixed, and its idling now...

sounds like you got noo air going into your engine

but when i open up the throttle, it dies even quicker. and if the throttle is open on crank, it'll barely get going

maybe ur dizzy? or fuel pump?

mayb your filters clogged happen to my m8s ej8 once cause i dodgy mechanice "accidently" left duc tape in his cold air, dont ask me wat he was doing with duc tape in the 1st place lol

my assumption is ur fuel pump or u can check ur FITV

fuel pump is a brand new walbro, fuel pressure remains within specs during the short period of idle (at ign its at 35psi, during the idle, jumps up to above 41psi).

no airfilter, running straight off the throttle atm.

FITV?

could be the dizzy, but i've done a full spark test, and all plugs are getting constant spark whilst cranking.

leads on the right position on the dizzy cap ?

o2 sensor??

leads are in the right order

o2 sensors were 2nd hand, but the ECU isn't throwing up any codes about them

Stu....lumpy Cams?

;)

Clean fuel I would assume

Im running a jdm PR3 ecu to a b16a2, with a retro fitted harness... What octane fuel do jdm ecu's require? Could this be an issue, or would it just run crap...?

Lol, headers only, no cams yet

what dizzy are u using?

qikteg

MSD Procap with external blaster 2 coil.

what should i be inspecting on the dizzy?

CRXer

what is the dizzy base,is it the one that came on the b16a2(what are the colour of the plugs, grey or clearish)?

where is the external coil mounted anyway?
would prob be good if u could revert to stock ignition & get car running first.

the base is obd0, as is the ECU. Can't confirm the exact model the dizzy base came off.

ok thats a good thing, what looms were used to get from motor to ecu?

qikteg

lol, i believe its a combination of:

1. b18a obd0 loom
2. Hasport conversion harness
3. qikteg special conversion harness

i'm fairly confident of my work, but i'm only an amateur auto electrician, and this is my first attempt at a harness. (my dad's an electrical engineer, so i've got the knowledge)

are u getting any fault codes?
have u got a CEL wired up?

what im basically driving at is if u can check if the CYP & CKP sensors are reversed, see if u can identify which one gives what wire colours coming out of dizzy base & then see where u have them wired into ecu.

also check your TPS & MAP plugs arent reversed

The only fault code is 22, being the vtec pressure, so the cel/diagnostic seems to be working...

I'll do some tests tonight, let you know how I go with cyp/ckp wiring...

TPS and MAP are the right way round, but I'll review the wiring again..

it was all in the MAP sensor. so now make that 4 wires that were out of place in my whole loom. Pins 2 and 3 were swapped, so obviously there was an incorrect air flow reading.

thanks CRXer - you're a legend. so much of this swap is owed to you. i'd give you more rep points, but it wants me to share it round before i give you more. which is total BS.

lol... read the post above... thanks for your input, i was thinking that, but on a b16a2 manifold, TPS and MAP are different plugs
