Get the appropriate checks (i.e compression test) and that will be the decider really.

btw, welcome to Ozhonda

yeah i have already asked the guy for a comp. test and if he could post a video on youtube or something of the actual test being done but the engine is in japan and hes said something along the lines of the guys in japan taking it disrespectfully.

would you personally take the risk in buying it without warranty judging by the pics?

haha thanks for the warm welcoming :)

No disrespect (I understand how the system work) but I simply would not.

but then again if its a minimal spend then I guess the risk is worth it.

yeah $3.8k shipped to melbourne. only catch is that it doesnt come with headers. what do you reckon mate?

hisoka

it should be alright aye. i would do it. buy some second hand headers. and plus cost of install. works out cheaper.

do you pay customs on this. worth more than 1 grand is a customs fee isnt it.

i ment doesnt australia charge you to bring this in. i thought anything over the value on 1000 dollars you need to pay import duty ?

nah im buying it from a reseller who buys his stuff from japan. he doesnt seem dodgy at all and ive bought recaros off him which were fine. i think $3.8k shipped for the engine is amazing but don't understand why the other place is selling a b16b for $4.3k

The fabled B16b is $500 more because it's a considerably rare engine by comparison to the B16a and the B18c. You're better off getting the B18c because it's more powerful, cheaper, and in all reality the B16b is nothing more than a de-stroked b18c <lol>

B18B is one awesome engine tho... n sure isnt one u come across every day... ive always wanted to do a b16b swap to an ef or somethin else light...

B18C torque will b much more enjoyable for daily driving but the b16 just doesnt stop revving, sounds n feels awesome.

3.8K is a great price IMO, k's r a bit highish but then again i wouldnt trust most of em that claim 50xxx or less. Gearbox alone is usualy 1-1.5k. Headers arent an issue either, can get JDM 4-1's for a couple of hundred.

Good luck, i say get it!

the engine is a good deal man. Hey, PM me the contacts of the shop/person you got the engine from.

Thanks.

FYI

workshops or anywhere...can only offer "turn key" warranty with these imported engines.
That is , if the engine has an issue directly after its started as per normal then it would be covered. But if something happens days weeks months later you have no foot to stand on.

That said , all imported engines carry the same risk and benefits so let the engine type be your decider , not where its from.

those motors will be closer to 5k at least landed in aus, freight forwarding will cost u about 800 to bring the package in, plus shipping, fumigation, customs etc..

try find one locally if you can and maybe even consider rebuilding a motor.

Engineering cert should only come in after swap. Put the engine into your car then go from there.

wait so you decided not to buy an engine from your initial post, is that right?
