Hey guys been thinking for a while bout purchasing a s2k ap1
I read all the forums about it on the net so don't hit me and tell me to search lol

I can't decide
civic fn2 type r
Dc5r
S2k evently supercharged or turbo

I'm leaning towards the s2k but need to know the upps and downs
Coming from the ppl that actually own them :)

Cheers for helping!

Just remember with an S2000, Their not Silvia's, do not drive it like a Silvia or else you'll be replacing a diff in no time (which is Costly)

Otherwise in my case (I'm 6"1) I found the drive fun but uncomfortable.

s2k is 2 seater obv
but if thats not an issue meh

fn2 is a slug

So diff isn't strong I go to the track somtimes with my r33 and have some fun there :) wanted to test a s2k there but I guess not haha is there much aftermarket support for diffs etc and power wise how would it go agaisnt a dc5

SHOGUNOVDDRK
20-08-2009, 06:29 PM
No, the diff is plenty to go to the Track on but the Diff on the S2000 isn't meant to be....

Just don't be a dibshit and rip skids all the time (you know, like you would with a Silvia)

There is plenty of Aftermarket Diff support, it just can get expensive.

Not trying to scare you off a S2000, just don't drive it like a dick and you won't palm face later.

DC5R vs S2000 is a very different Battle, FWD vs RWD, different gear ratio's (etc)

Give them both a little spin to see.

Yer lol de I'll keep my r33 for drifting haha
Looking tonspend round 25-30k and that's round the same price what there going for.
Looking for 2002 glass window s2k
White red interior not thrashed never been in one but can't wait
K20 vs f20c hmmm I'd rather the 2 seater and it would be alot lighter
But yer keep your opinions coming

The car is fun to drive yet slightly uncomfortable if you're tall or big like SHOGUNOVDDRK mentioned.
There's very little adjustment for the seat reclining & if you require some decent boot space there's not much room left once the sub goes in.
Other than that.. it's a great weekend car or for cruising. =)

Good luck!

Does anyone think 98000kms is too high?

i'm on 89000 and i think it's ok, it depends on HOW LONG you want to keep it really... cause if you want to drive it for 3-4 years and drive lots of kms then it'll be too high but for me i'm not keeping it for long and don't drive that much

Yeah I loved the drive when we test drove it the other day, so I think it'll be a keeper. Def for the lifestyle!! But I was thinking the opposite...that the a diff of about 20k kms won't make much of a diff if we're gonna hang onto it. The closest kms in my price range is around the 70-80km mark, which I guess is two years of av driving in difference.

hey guys how many owners do you think is too many for 2001 model? Just did a revs check on the blue one and it's had an extensive history. Looks like about 4 owners between 01-09, with 5 plate transfers.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum :o

Apart from that it's fine - no accidents and just got it compression tested at GT Auto - 100% fine. Which makes me think...why hasn't the car gone yet?

It's listed here at carsales:

http://www.carsales.com.au/Tig/UI/PagePopup.aspx?R=7446525&PhotoID=17563543&h_mid=4415219&f_mid=&c_mid=4414495&pid=140973&tabID=304736&tsrc=allcarhome

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks guys :)

Could be any reason with so much change overs on owners like 1. person bought it after a few months didnt like it got inpractical etc, 2.peson lost their licence 3. had to many cars home 4. dude got kids etc the list can go on on and on but as long the the car is clean and runs well. why not.

Did you get an RACQ test on it too? i heard people said they give a pretty thorough check of the car.

Not the badge on the floor mat, behind that. Looks look a rectangluar thing sticking out of the ground lol

All S2000's have a chassis brace under the mat running from 1 side of the car to the other. Its runs across where the OEM floor mat sits.

Ok guys what about a 99 with 70K, two female owners, 25K?

not to come across as being sexist here but I would stay away from buying a car from a female. ALOT of females do not know how to drive the car properly and in hindsight you could end up buying a lemon. although the car would probably be serviced on time, I have seen how some females drive and it will put you off buying a car from one.

Best thing you could do is buy the car from an enthusiast, at least you know it has been well cared for, serviced on time (
5000kms) with all the best fluids/parts.

Furthermore, when it comes to a honda kms is pretty much just a number. It is a very reliable car so I dont see why you guys are worried about buying something with over 100,000kms? Likely hood that if something were to go wrong it would have and might have been rectified or replaced by the previous owners/owner

An exmaple is the white S that Perry use to own had lower kms than my previous S, during the first couple of weeks his shit Clutch cylinder shit itself. The point I'm bringing across here is that if things go wrong then its just wear and tear and shit happens. I have seen S2000's with 40,000kms with fckd CV's, blown diffs and the list goes on.

vyets
28-08-2009, 08:50 AM
Also I'd rather buy one over 80,000kms then one at 70,000kms. 1k for a full service isn't cheap :)
My car was bought right after major service by old owner woo!!

winkyc
28-08-2009, 09:45 AM
you got a good point there.
when i was looking out to buy an s2000 i was checking this black one by this lady maybe about in her mid 20s.
plastic roof was all rusty and brown crap on it.
swirl marks like theres no 2mrrow
seats were all mangled
shoes and all this other crap in the car ruining the dashboard.
roof wasn't in good condition - off black colour.

For $9k to buy a 2003 s2k???

2 years ago i was looking for a car on carsales.com
The seller was located in Darwin and she got divoced and in need to sell the car for cash.
The market value for the car is about $15k but she was selling it for $7k only.
i called her and she told me she is in uk staying with her mum and if i am willing to transfer $5k to her a/c first, she will arrange shipping to BNE and once i am happy, i can pay rest of the money to the transport company.

I am just wondering, is there no one to drive the car to a dealer and get a cash sale?
I forget it because it was too bullshit..

First I want to thank you for question about the car. The car is in perfect condition, with no scratches on it, no damage. It have all the papers and document and I am also the first owner. The price is $9,000 including the shipping to your address (only in Australia). The car is registered in Australia on my name and address but currently I am located in London, UK because I just finished the divorce with my husband and i have moved here to my parents home. The payment will be made through eBay and only after you will receive the car, I will receive the payment.

If you are interested in buying it please provide me your full name and address so I can initiate the deal through eBay.
I will wait your answer(if you are interested to buy) very soon

Thank you

People are just so creative today with scamming they all use the same line, laters guys need to collect my $10,000,000 from a widow now
