ok so i was told by the previous owner of my 99 honda EK civic that the car has a haltech ecu, i was going to get the car tuned next week until today when i thought i better go check if it is actually a haltech, turns out its a plain old silver ecu looks pretty stock i say, not sure if its been piggy backed.

however my question is, my engine is supercharged with cams, exhaust, msd ignition module, and other bits and pieces, would the stock ecu be able to handle those mods, it drives fine as a daily, just lacks punch sometimes.

would the car have to be piggy backed to run this set up???

i have been looking around for hondata systems now they seem the best way to go, however im taking it to the pits next week to see if there is anything else i can do or to find out if it has hondata or some piggy back already.

your opinions would be appreciated.

cheers guys.

hope i provided enough info.

Hi

A stock ECU would not handle a supercharger, The ECU would see a positive manifold pressure and freak out and trip the MIL.

it is quite possible the haltech could be mounted inside the stock ECU enclosure.

best to remove the ECU and unto the screws to see inside and take a photo and post it here.

I didn't think Haltech made internally mounted units? If it isn't an internally mounted unit check to see if there's a wiring harness that leads off from the original ecu and hides somewhere else like under the seat or behind the centre console.
