just thinking... D15B4 is a twin carby engine, normally carby engine run no ECU~ but i found a few posts sayin D15B4 got ECU on it, so how the ECU function with this carby? cause ECU should manage the injection and timing things, so as carby~
second, is it mean i can put a aftermarket ECU on it? if so, any reccommendation?

ecu runs teh choke iirc
personally,i think its a waste of time and money to efi the d15b4.if you wanna more power, get rid of those restrictive factory Keihin carbs, and put on 2 sidedraft webers .
you're not making much use of those expensive webber
carbs with a relatively stock D15B4. it will near the cost
of a B16A.
b16a conversion will cost at least 3g,before getting engnieered.a pair of used dcoe and a manifold only cost 800.with the right jets,hi flow fuel pump and a exhaust system you will have noticeable power increase.

The B15B4 ECU does manage fuel mixtures as well. the carbs have a solenoid each that the ecu controls to alter the pistons position in order to alter fuel mixture.
dont waist you time on the ECU from the D15B4, no one has bothered to develope this ecu and there is minnimal/no support for it.
do an engine convertion and do it the right way. forget about the carbie engine.

So it advances/retards the ignition timing?

i can see ur point if ur gonna do it, do it properly. but is the d15b4 realy that terrible an engine? or is it only bad in comparison to the b series? other than its lack of power im just wondering why so many people put shit on it?

In comparison to a B, yes its shit and in reality a carb B is going to be a epic headache.
Being dedicated to carb (let alone tuning) is a lost art these days (inb4 muscle cars)
if you're after some fun for a budget cost a d16y1 swap isn't so bad (mate has one and adores it)

So it advances/retards the ignition timing?
no, just like the early PGMFI it is fuel only

Im not shitting on the D15B4, they are a tough engine, but for performance, why bother with a dual carb D15 or D15B7. Best go D16Y1 or B sereis engine, much better bang for buck.
