Hi. Have just bought an '07 Civic sport, and find that there is no button on the boot to open it, nor via the remote control. Need to unlock with key in bootlid barrel, or use release lever inside car. Has anyone come up with a better way;
-get a 2009 onwards key (with 3 buttons), retrofit a boot actuator from 09 onwards and then recode
-get aftermarket remote locking with separate keyfob, control unit and actuator just for 'releasing' the bootlid
-retrofitted bootlid actuator and module to release bootlid when unlock key pressed twice in succession

Or something else????
Please help.

there are aftermarket boot release kits for the 06-08 fd civic. they come with the actuator and works using the standard civic key. just tap the door unlock button twice and the boot pops open. i bought a kit from DMX a while ago, but then sold it to a friend. we did a DIY install at his house on his fd, and the kit works well.

u can buy them from ebay:

here's a couple of clips of DMX's car using his aftermarket boot release kit:

This might sound like a noob question but if two people have the same kit can one open the boot of another from the same remote?

no. the actuator responds to pressing ur unlock button twice. this is using ur standard key from your car. no reprogramming or anything like that is involved.

Thanks aero, its less confusing

looks like a really clever idea for the FD, is it an easy DIY?

its not that hard. my friend and i are duds at doing DIY stuff, but we got it installed in a few hours. if i were to do it again, it would probably take much less.
anyway, i did some searching on this forum and found the DIY article that DMX wrote on how to install the device:

http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95107

just follow these set of instructions and u should be alrite.

This doesnt look as hard as i first thought it would be, the bending of the metal for the actuator is a lil confusing but yeah other than that nb nb.

might give this a crack over summer as its a good DIY not that expensive.

thanks heaps for your help aero, nice FD btw

The kit now comes with the actuator bracket bended & prepared. We can skip the bending of the bracket part..!
