check light turning on?

hey all, along with my gearbox noise which i posted in a seperate thread, after about 15 mins of driving, the "check" light comes on and stays on till the car turns off, when the light comes on nothing changes with the motor or gearbox, its exactly the same as when the light isnt on. what does this light refer to exactly? bit of a nooby but yea lol

The check engine light is a warning indicator.... its means your car's computer has determined that a component or system in your emission controls is not working properly.

to fix this problem you should go to your local mech and they can work out the problem...

If you take the car to a dealer they can plug a computer in and it will tell you what it is straight away ,..they usually wont charge you for this and it is more likely to be a faulty sensor..which would be having no affect on your car gl.

You can use an OBDII scan tool to read CELs. You don't need to use the HDS tester.

pretty sure autobarn and supercheap has them....

EG doesnt have the OBD connector, so a scanner is useless unless its ment for 3 pin DLC
