Civic VTi 2009 - Limiter?

How do you know if your car has a limiter on it?
Does it usually come out of the factory with a limit on the rpm?
Wanting to ask as I don't personally want to redline.

(As a side thing, is my car FD? Not really too sure of the alphabet labelling)

I'm pretty sure most cars have a rev limiter so you'll be ok. And yes your car is an FD.

yeap.. rev limiter at 6800 rpm

vti, vti-l = fd1 (r18a engine)
sport = fd2 (k20z2 engine)

depending on how long u redline for.. e.g. redlining and shifting normally will have less damage then redlining and then flat changing (if not performed quick enough)
best thing to do is shift a few hundred rpm before redline

but of course any engine which is constantly red lined will have its life decreased..

If you redline when the engine is cold, then yes you will cause damage. If you have been driving the car for 15 minutes, which sufficiently warms up the engine then you don't cause damage, just get the usual wear.

^^ aaronng is correct, if redlining the car when up to temp caused damage...they would make the redline lower.

i dont know of any production cars in the last 20 yrs that came without a rev limiter
