incorrect, type s = 154kw no lsd, redline at 8300rpm
depending on which jdm k20 motor from either jdm dc5/ep3/cl7
dc5 and cl7 both put out 162kw with redline at 8600rom for dc5, 8800 for cl7 while the ep3 puts out 158kw redline 8600rpm, all have lsd

is there any way to tell which jdm k20 you have? do you know what makes them different?

JDM DC5R = K20a
AUDM DC5R = K20a2
AUDM DC5S = K20z1
Google those engine codes to find out the differance between all of them.

i thought the type-s had LSD too. On redbook and car sales research, it mentions a Limited Slip Diff in the specs. Ive tried mine and ive felt it.

I'm a Type S owner, did research before and easily noticeable in corners, it does not have LSD. Plan to install one when my clutch is due for change out later.

Maybe the Japanese Type S doenst feature an LSD because Japan still brought out the the facelift model of the Type R? where as australia stopped making the type r and only made the type s? Could that be a possibility? i got mine 2nd hand from a toyota dealership and they told me that the type s had an LSD.
Ive had people drive mine and try out the LSD and they agreed that it had one.... Ive tried it too, unless carsales/ redbook is incorrect and im just thinking too much :P

Redbook and carsales are wrong.
Read any report on the Type S (Motor magazine etc) and it'll say that that's one thing the Type S lacked.
The Toyota dealership would have said what they would have read off redbook. I'm not doubting you, but yeah... just find it odd.

Ahh, i c.... o well... whats one way to test it out?
Ive tried... i made my car understeer into a corner, pressed the throttle gently and i felt "something" like an LSD correct me out of the corner.
Could it have been something else other than an LSD? Mid range torque?
Anyone can verify?

Have you ever drive anything with LSD on? if you did then you will know.....the only way to try it is on track or pull the thing out and see whether it have one or not.....but I am sure stock Type S do not come with LSD......there are no difference between Jdm and Audm spec......

You need to floor the throttle, not press it gently in order to see the difference with LSD. If you floor the throttle, the inner wheel on the type S will lose traction, get full torque and start going wide (understeering more), while with the LSD, the car will pull inwards as more torque gets proportioned to the outer wheel.

is it hard to swap out Dc5 ITR LSD to Dc5 ITS?
do you have to swap the entire gearbox? how mutch would it cost roughly?

you can just put a ITR LSD into a ITS gearbox.
But changing the clutch in a a DC5 is about an 8 hour job in itself... and that's just removing the gearbox from the engine.
I don't have dollar figures, but it would be an expensive exercise.

any idea on what a Dc5 ITR LSD would go for? and are there aftermarket ones around?
sorry if this is delving a little off topic

I've seen stock 2nd hand ones go from anywhere between $500-$800... just depends on condition, usage, age...
There is aftermarket ones available from most transmission and suspension companies (Quafe, Cusco etc...)
