put cigarette lighter on dash

is it possible to put a cigarette lighter on the dash somewhere. i have tom tom on my iphone and this http://us.kensington.com/html/14486.html which is an iphone charger that plugs into cigarette lighter. My honda cigarette lighter is too low, cant use the gps properly and dangerous to look down

Jaycar sells a cigarette lighter extension cord (P/N PP1992).

I bought that and directly wired it to the back of the cigarette lighter cabling. I then routed it under the dash and steering column to the right close to my GPS unit.

Opening up the panels is a good idea.

I found the best place to put my Tom Tom is in the big console bin infront of the shifter - out of the sun, out of sight, easy to hear turn directions and glancing down is a sinch. No adapter needed.
