Hey guys
ok i have a 93 civic eg 2 door, car has got 17s on it with 205,40,17 tires, now the time has come to put new tires on but im changing the rims to 15" rims!
My question is which tire size to go for on the 15's?
The car is lowered, and with the 17's it sometimes scrapes the arches, would i be correct in going for 195,50,15s or something like that?
Thanks

205/50/15 is the closest one to your original tyre specs.
my eg oem tyres were 175/65/14 so 205/50/15 is the closest to ensure accurate odometer & speedometer reading

Here's a useful link for calculating the right tyre size:

205/50/15 i go for RE001, very good on handling
also it looks hot , for 1.5/1.6 civic, 15-16's is a good size for performance~
correct me if i am wrong (XoX)

fyi 205 and 195 would give the same rolling diameter just depending on how fat the wheel is depends which one you get.. 205 and 195 are how wide the tyre is has nothing to do with the rolling diameter.

what?
what he is trying to say is that, the rolling diameter of a wheel/tyre combo, is not purely dependant on the width of the tyre
a tyre of 195/55R15 means 195mm in width
55% of 195mm in profile thickness
R15 = tyre for 15" rim
if you ahve a 205/50R15 it means the tyre is 205mm wide
50% of 205mm in profile thickness
R15 = tyre for 15" rim
that means that a tyre of 205/55 and a 195/55 tyre do not have the same thickness
if you want to think about rolling diametre, think about the overal height of the tyre/rim (taking into account the width + profile of the tyre)

go check your door sill and look at the placard, check what the stock wheels/tyres are
go to http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html and punch in your stock tyre/wheel specs then find the equivalent size in 15"
