Hi,

I took my car to a local exhaust shop to get the jdm 4-2-1 headers fitted on my dc5 replacing the stock 4-1 header. however, they said that it wont fit because it is hitting the cross membrane of the car (the chassis) they reckon. i have already upgraded my front sway bar to clear these headers so thats not a problem. So, i decided to call centrax auto mt gravatt, who have fitted them before and they said the exhaust shop just doesn't have enough experience on the dc5?

Im pretty sure theses headers came off the jdm k20a2 from (honda_b_blasting's) EG.

can anyone suggest why it doesnt fit, or is the this exhaust guy just in-experienced?

Tell him that it will be a direct fit.
as long as u have JDM 4-2 and 2-1 section. Then you wont have a problem.

Bring it to another exhaust shop. Or install it yourself. It wont take long. I installed my J's racing header with the 2-1 section, it took me around an hour or so only. It is easy!

weird.. take a pic of those headers and put it online and we see if there is any difference..

it really should not be the case.. i dont know if it has been fitted on a K20 conversion before which will affect the shape or something?

Some swaybars are no good...
Get an original EP3 CTR front sway bar & just bolt them on... (PM EG5)
(Problem is the swaybar, not the crossmember unless the installer really does have no idea.. lol)
Cheers

instead of going for ep3 sway bar i went whiteline 24mm adjustable sway bar, which is same as the one 45SET has, unless the headers are different, anyways here is a pic of the header

OEM JDM DC5R 4-2-1 headers with 24mm front whiteline sway bar here... no problems at all.

Only thing that I can think of is maybe they are off a EP3R K20a.

Can anyone with a EP3R confirm that the headers are different or the same as the DC5R ones.

Rightoh... now we're getting to the bottom of it...
The header will only fit with the adjustable whiteline bar in one position.
From memory it's the looser setting - furtherst to the end position for the links.
Otherwise it will foul on the header.
Anyway... which ever way it is, just put the header back on...
Undo the links on the ends of the swaybar & re-attach in the position where the header is no longer fouled.
(Or use the EP3 CTR bar for zero greif)

I have Whiteline (non-adjustable) front sway bar and it clears fine with my JDM or J's Header. or it is a special case for the adjustable whiteline swaybar.??

I've only seen this problem with the adjustable bar...
