Hey guys

Im looking at lowering my ek1 with some decent aftermarket lowering springs.
I dont really have the funds 4 coilovers or shocks atm and plus I only use my car to get 2 n from uni n work. I currently have 17" rims with tyre profile 205,40,17. Im looking at lowering it as low as possible without scrubing or scraping anywhere. My budget is under 500.

I've also done some research and come up with some sugestions such as
Eibach pro kit
Eibach Spotline
skunk2
King Lows

any help would be greatly appreciated cheers.

King lows. Keep an eye out on your OEM struts, i would suggest you change them asap when using aftermarket springs...

Yeah go for Kings Low.. should be fine on OEM shocks for daily. For a better ride quality go for Tein springs or Eibach

I am in the same boat as you EK-CTR. I have an Ek1 on 17x7's with no kit. I have been advised by 50% of ppl to get King Superlows or equivalent, and the other 50% to get King Lows or equivalent.
So whats the dealio?
EK-CTR and I dont want to be scrubbing... i dont mind if i have to roll the guards either

You can use your existing shocks with new lowering springs, just keep an eye on them, cause most lowering springs are progressive, & spring rates are a little stiffer, the shock may not last as long compared to using OEM springs...

I just decided to keep my same set up.Stock shocks and king lows. It's a 1 finger gap at front and 3 at rear, which shits me....but I'm over it!

I love the ride comfort.I'm gonna change a few bushes soon so see how it is afterwards.

tell me about it, im waiting to buy new shocks, which wont be for a looooonngg time, so i may give in to temptation & drop my biatch...

Im going with king lows. Nothing too dramatic, but will still give the car a much better overall appearance, im still rocking stock rims with hub caps to fellas...

Ive been advised to get Superlows as Lows apparently dont seem to lower it much at all and is a waste of money. Can anyone back this up?
Im sitting 17x7s with stock shocks and no bodykit.

you also have to take into consideration if your packing extra weight, as in sub box in back, spare tyre, groceries etc. You dont want to be scrapping everywhere you go. i think lows with 17's would look hella nice...

Lows only drop the car 3cm. There is at least a 6cm gap from the rim of my tyre to the edge of the guards. Do you speak from experience VTECnique?

Hope this helps..

Stock, Lows, Superlows

Cant really see last photo properly. It sorta looks like it tucks in but theres really about a 1-1.5" gap between the arch and wheel. Ultralows should tuck some tyre in the fender.

17" 205/40

If your shocks are really worn i suggest replacing them the same time or before lowering.

to me lows suites me fine, as superlows would make me nervous when i park near the curb, it offers more stability over the stock height. From experience, we have high gust winds here in melbourne, driving on the ring road, i didn't feel very safe at all, however after installing some second hand lows plus a strut brace, i found that i'm a lot more comfortable now, there is still a bit of swaying around, but has reduced dramatically. I got mine from MRGRIM, and is very happy that i made that choice

Depends on what drop you want..but either waying lowered springs areny good for oem shocks.

Don't bother with teins but do consider skunk2 they have a drop of 2 inch front and 2.5inch back. Also look into eibachs not sure on drop though. At the end of the day you pay for what you get...kings=shit! That's just imo that is

That is unsafe.

Yeah, i agree - unsafe - wouldn't do it, wouldn't try it..
Its mostly unsafe because most people can't do this right and the springs tend to get cut unevenly.

rather eat more indo mee and save the money to buy proper springs.
