ok so a mate of mine gave me a cheap crappy 'Piranha' bucket seat and its been sitting in my garage for a while

the seat in my 93' EG Gli Civic Sedan isnt that great so i finally decided to try putting in the aftermarket seat ...

i unbolted everything i could on both the stock civic seat and the aftermarket one and nothing lines up ... all the bolt holes are in between 5mm and 20mm out

now both seats are laid out in peices on my garage floor and i am both confused and annoyed ... is there some special trick to fitting these seats? special rails i need to buy? do they only fit certain cars?

any advice?

or should i put the honda seat back in and turn the aftermarket seat into a playstation chair =p

Moved!

You need aftermarket rails to fit the seat in your car. If it is a cheap crappy seat, I'd use it for the playstation. No point risking your life on a cheapass seat.

well what else are you going to sit on when playing gran tourismo?

seriously tho ... has anyone got any specific info or ideas for me before i put the honda seat back in?

also do DC2 VTI-R seats bolt straight into civics? might goto the wreckers and get a pair for the front if they do

Nearly everything you try and fit will require either modification/fabrication, or aftermarket rails. Anyone with access to a MIG/TIG welder and some steel plate can make up custom brackets for you to fit your seat. It means having to fit the seat, take some measurements and make a couple of templates.

Remember, the seat is an important piece of safety equipment so, please, get someone who knows what they are doing. You don't want your seat coming apart in a shunt, sending you through the windscreen!
