Hey guys. My starter motor is stuffed in my EK4 and I need a replacement asap. I rang a Honda wrecker and quoted the part number which is SM-44213. The starter is Mitsuba brand. They said the only starter they have in stock is the 44211 which I know nothing about. They also said they have an Integra VTi-R which they could pull the starter from. So, does anyone know if the Integra starter motor is the same as the EK one and also if the 44211 starter will work?

wont work due to the drivers side engine mount bracket. You need a starter from a EK4 or
EM1 to be sure.

I thought this would be the case. The engine mount bracket gets in the way on the EK4. So, do you know if all EK starter motors are the same or do I need to find one specifically made for the VTi-R?

you need one to suit EITHER EK4 or EM1.
Both have the same engine bays essentially....same bracket same clearance issues. So Either will suit.

Car doesn't turn over. When I try and start it it just clicks. I got a new battery thinking that was the problem and it's still doing it. Gave the starter a tap and it started which I believe is a sure sign the brushes are too short correct?

gimme and sec and i'll pm you a link
it's just some contacts in your starter motor
cost you about $40 in parts and 30 minutes of your time to fix
edit; clicky (http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=1318816&highlight=starter+motor) to go to honda-tech, post 9 is what you want
take the part numbers to toyota and they'll get it for ya
mine was doing the same, used the toyota parts and it fixed it right up
starts first time now ;)

Thanks for the link. Are you sure this applies to my starter motor? The reason I ask is because in that post the guy says "Honda starters are made by Nippondenso". Mine is made by Mitsuba. Will the parts still be the same?

thats true
admittedly mines a denso unit
since yours is busted anyway take it out of your car and pull it apart and compared it to the photos there
if it matches up, go for it

We sell a remanufactured unit at work that crosses over from SM44213. The part number is RXS802. Go into an Ashdown-Ingram or Repco store and ask about that part number. The Bunbury Ashdown-Ingram branch has 1 on the shelf. Otherwise it'll have to come from Brisbane. I can post up the dimensions on the reman. unit if it'll help you.

nice to see. The ek4 and em1 starters are very slightly shorter than other b series - thanks for clarifying.
