Heyy guys,

Just like to get your thoughts on this item. Its a Front Grillie for ek9, I assumeing its CTR style if I'm not mistaken.. correct me if I'm wrong. :zip:

look all round the place and saw some for like $395.00 for this little piece of plastic..

For aftermarket EK9 Grillies has anyone have real problems in terms of fitment? Any regrets getting aftermarket or its the same thing pretty much?

Please let me know thanks.

guys, $40 posted for that thing, at that price if it does crack/whatever you can just replace it...

I've got the CTR rep grille on my car and if you're willing to put some effort into colour coding it with your paint it should look alright. I had no issues with fitment or whatsoever. I'm happy with them and am glad that I didn't pay $395 for it. Of course if I have the cash I'd go OEM just to feel good :)

Nevertheless it all depends on your budget vs expectations.

Either way you can get OEM or REP from JDM Yard.

mate theres a huge difference in terms of quality on the oem jdm ek9 grille and a chinese copy

real deal:
3 piece construction (grill front, grill mesh and backing)
perfect fitment

copy:
one piece construction
dodge fitment

or even worse is when ppl retro their std ones and glue a bit of mesh in there...

Honda will over spend and over engineer every single piece of their body panels to a very strict tolerance (hence the price for anything panel related), which is why I would not ever use replicated panels as its obvious theyre not right, its another good buying tool for 2nd hand models as if the panels are slightly out it tells another story. for a better example look at the new CBR1000, not a single gap will be found anywhere

just when you get a real deal one, also buy one way screws as the kit wont come with oem clips needed for fitment, other than that they come up a million bux :)

That's not entirely true particularly in this case, pre 99 model is a 3 piece design OEM, however 99-00 (as advertised) is a piece design from Honda.

wouldve imagined it to be a 2-piece design for the 99-00 model, but the important part is the gaps, and replicas have huge massive gaps

Interesting thanks for the feed back :) yeah I saw on jdm yard it's $105 shipped whereas oem is $395. Don't see any complaints on them so far so it's a good sign for aftermarketers. I'll probably go with aftermarket because it better suites my budget. Thanks guys
