Hey guys,

Looking at buying an intake for my VTi-R, choices are:
1. Mugen Air Cleaner & Box
2. AEM Cold Air Intake
3. Comptech Icebox Cold-Air Intake
4. K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kit

Any suggestions? What do you guys have on your cars? Are there any other options?

Thanks in advance

There are some choices which is pretty good compare with others
J's Intake
HKS racing intake
Mugen Box
ARC Box

It's hard to say which one is better or the best, they are all aim for different purpose, like Throttle response, Max power and heat resistant, so make sure to find out what you need before getting anything

I bought mine off ebay. I dont think anywhere in Aus supplies it but it's giving good gains with a mad sound.....also its hard to get defected for cos the cops cant see the pod....

dunno about the Aem v2, its pretty similar to a SRI isn't it?

That is, it still sucks in a lot of hot air from the engine especially where it is situated, so u'd be pretty bogged down when you take off but from what i understand once you get going you make power all the way through the rest of the rev range since air temp will be really similar to outside air

I guess you compromise a quicker take off for more power once you get going, the mugen is the best of both worlds and the cai is better for mid range

so basically the way i see it is, if your a traffic light battler get a cai, if you like rolling starts get a sri or the v2, otherwise buy the mugen and get the whole package

Oh and if you decide to go AEM speak to Quantum Racing in QLD, contact no is 07 3290 5911, they are the official distributors of Aem in Oz

With the V2, it's a long pipe that goes down into the front side of the engine bay....I don't think it cops much hot air there cos it's no longer near the headers or anything.....but when i looked at there dyno sheets it gave more power across the whole rev range

apexi = filter on a pod

Yeah I agree I have one on my LS and it goes much better than my old K&N!
Apexi can be improved on by re-locating it to the back of the front bar, out of the heat from the enginebay! :)

I plan to do this this up coming weekend! hopefully????? :D

Is anybody able to prepare (or has a link to) some sort of table which lists the various intakes and their corresponding (rough) pricetag?

and maybe even a third column with some words a bout the expected performance gain.
