Sounds crazy but I'm sure it can be done.

Get one of these 12V DC to AC inverters (http://www.dcacpowerinverters.com/) and you can do the wiring from head unity into the speakers yourself.

i was lol'ing before i even clicked ... a phrase that seem to be going around these forums alot:

Do it ONCE, do it RIGHT.

juss get a proper stereo lol

on a side note, one of my IT engineer mates retrofitted an old CD-ROM into a single-din slot and some of those old self powerd/volumed 2.0 speakers somehow into his old bucket of crap car ... drew more of a crowd than a fully sick stereo or turbos at the local lan ... wow that was a trip back down memory lane haha

yeah u just need a really long extension lead going from your powerpoint of your house to the boot, 5.1 surround sound, thx certified, all you need is a projector and a pull down screen out the front. Also add in a xbox for some coolness.

dude heaps of people do it and suprisingly they sound quite good in cars, better
than most normal ICE setups pre-boxed and amplified surround, rather than
speakers in the doors...

easy as... get a 12V to 240V check the wattage comparison to your surround amplifier...
make sure it can cope...

jaycar sells 12V to 240V inverters
have a look...

http://www.jaycar.com.au/productResults.asp?FORM=CAT

dare you to go through with this... wont cost much if you already got the surround lol

i did it to the old eg lol...sound quality was nuts as i had the logitech z-5000 which comes with a 12inch sub lol..but took it out after a week cos fkin cords were everywhere...i just used a 300W inverter but the annoying thing was i had to use a cd player to control what sonds i wanted to hear lol...

Funny thing is ive been inside a car which had computer speakers and suprising its not that bad, real ghetto, but sounds alright. Buy an inverter plug it in and away you go. Cheap and really easy anyone can install it, straight out of your ipod/portable Dvd player does away with the need to have a headunit. Better than nothing I guess.

a mate bolted a 24" lcd to his boot on his holden (yuk) and had a ps3 sitting on the centre arm thingo between the 2 back seats with a 300watt targus inverter

so when you stood behind the car and poped the boot you would be facing a 24" lcd and using wireless ps3 controllers to play games lol

buddy if you want bass in your car $250 gets a u kicker amp and sub pack

i have fitted bout 6 of them, all u need is 5m of power cable, an RCA lead (assuming your head unit is aftermarket) and some speaker cable

all up you can have decent bass in a small honda boot for under 300 bucks

dont embarass urself with the logitech system.

Haha, Logitech 5.1 Speakers are only $100. Mine were! They'd crank in a car hahaha pretty funny. I know there's a company that does single DIN (possibly double DIN) computers with fold out screen and Windows etc, I forget the name though :(

TheSaint
