Tough choice man!

At the end of the day it all comes down to which you would prefer driving around, as they are both two very different cars. I'd say take the SMG for a test drive and see how it compares to your S2000 and which you would rather own...

Personally speaking I'd stay with the S2000 :D

I heart the SSS

How many owners have moved on, yet still drop in and comment how much they love the S2000.

Do yourself the favour of driving the BMW first, then make your decision... I loved the E46 M3, adored it.... until I drove one. I was so disappointed.

So it stops bloody fast, but is slow in acceleration. :p

325ci doesnt have much balls

i have a 323I and my mate just bought a 325ci yesterday, and neither of them are sporty enough coming from an S2000.

and with 100k kms on the clock and im assuming its been driven fairly hard. i wouldnt be surprised if a SMG box failure would fall in the time of your ownership

be prepared to pay upwards of $6000 for ANY SMG box issues as only BMW can work on them as the box would need to be sealed and clutchpoint adjusted. along with a tonne of electrionic adjustments

for that price its ok. but if you were to save a bit. by this time next year an M3 would only be around 10k more than that car's asking price

Maybe Nissan could help?

Or Toyota?

i think he only likes the BMW cos of the SMG box

i doubt you can pair up that to a SMG box. even if you could. how long would the box last before needing a rebuild

i think if you're going for a cruiser car then BMW is great. packed full of options and gadgets for quite a reasonable price these days. but for exhiliration. not so sure that a regular E46 coupe is going to do that for you

SMG is about as interesting as driving my falcon tiptronic ute! Seriously the BMW M3 is a let down, let alone the lesser models.

S2K's dont have 'status' no more imo....it lost its 'status' when it dropped into the 20k price bracket and every p plater can afford one.

Anyway still a great car.

Agreed! S2000 is no longer a badass vert no more. Just a bottom of the range cheapo vert for the everyday person now.

How are the Z4's 350's and Boxsters holding up in comparision, dollar wise?

stick with the honda s2k and enjoy it.....................coz i doubt it will get any better than soft top, vtec and 9000rpm............. ;)

Thats the reason why i sold my s2k lol, canberrra is full of them now!

Thats the bmw i wanted to buy! i tried to get a mate in that area to test drive it for me and he refused to because he said they were slow lol.

Great as a cruiser as mentioned but give it a drive and see how you like it

I agree, there are plenty with tastless and pointless mods, alittle like CRX's were some years ago.

i would be surprised if straight line there would be a difference at all... in terms of agility and cornering the S2000 would definitely be the pick... depends how you like to drive i suppose...

325CI 0-100km/hr is 7.3seconds or so

its more than 200kg heavier than the s2000 and about 40kw less in power

a bit more torque but not by much

s2000 is meant to do 0-100 in 6 flat.

OP have you looked into an E46 330Ci. Has more balls so should be quicker than the S. I remember giving one a run ages ago and it was pretty quick!
