View Full Version : Tein S-Tech vs Eibach Pro Kit

Hey guys,

I'm tossing up between 2 spring kits atm, just wondering if anyone has had experiences with the tein s-tech, heard good things about the eibach pro on here already.

After a bit of a drop, but not too harsh of a ride.

The price difference seems to be huge between the two as well,
Tein S-tech - $265 shipped
Eibach Pro Kit - $540 shipped

Thanks

Go for coilover

Thanks for that, but i'm interested in either of these springs.

Seems like springs/shocks is the way to go for comfort.

likewise as these are my 2 choices aswell apart from H&R but H&R is a fair bit more expensive than the eibachs

the only thing ive been told is that the tiens are a lot better than the kings but i dont know how they compare to the eibachs.

Darkii_
04-09-2009, 03:29 PM
Yeah, What i've been told by a place that stocks the Tein S-tech is that:

Tein S-tech drop = 40mm F // 30mm R
Eibach Pro Kit drop = 35mm F // 30mm R

They say that the tein and eibach should perform on par, but i have no idea how to compare spring rates etc to see if this is true.

If someone could help us out that would be greatly appreciated.

curious as to where you purchase these tein's from because they are good price.

could you please tell me

get Eibach

i had both springs and i must say Eibach performs better. the ride comfort feels like stock.

Darkii_
04-09-2009, 04:23 PM
Thanks for that outatime,

How was the ride in the tein s-tech, i guess for more than double the price the eibach should perform better lol. Just seeing if its really worth that much more.

The tein s-tech are listed on ebay, just do a search and it should be the only one there in Australia.

the stech are harsh and uneven.. rear is higher than front

well you can get the eibach from jdmyard for 480 i think, which is a reasonable price.. because if u get one from the US, it cost almost the same. at least with jdmyard, you will get warranty and u can pick it up today if u like

Darkii_
04-09-2009, 04:51 PM
mmm k, i'll have to have a think about this lol.

the eibach for the euro from jdmyard is $516 + i live in brisbane so $20 extra for shipping.

outatime
04-09-2009, 05:16 PM
lol that's fine.. other suspension shops here in sydney sell the eibach for 650+! so you will still get a better deal..

Tein S tech is pretty soft IMO, if you wanna more low stance on your EURO go for S tech as S tech sits very low.

If you are after a bit of fun go for Eibach pro kits.

JDMYARD will be your best bet.

Reading the side of the box or his own post would have provided the same information seriously come on. Wow I didnt know that more drop means more drop, but yeah eibach for a bit of fun ha. thats a classic.

Coilovers, ha Useful. Why the hell would you post useless shit.

Well Darkii I know you and obviously your planning to lower on the cheap, smack bang on your stocko shocko. Personally I’d go S-tech only because of the price, seriously if you’re expecting a huge performance difference on some springs on your stock shock $300 difference isn’t going to be noticeable performance wise, looks wise it will look hotter. I’d have to say doing the springs only is really a cosmetic thing either way both the springs should be harder than OEM but it’s only a 3cm drop. In these tough times $300 difference extra for just the looks isn’t fun. Especially when your planning to unload the car soon anyway.
My Skunk2 springs on oem shock is still running strong after 20000km (60000km shock) 3.8cm front drop and 4.0 cm rear.

$500 for eibachs in Aust? might be a lot cheaper from the states.
There are quite a few places that will ship to Aust. ;)

I'm with Min. I don't think the difference would be worth the extra money just for looks.

The reason why I ask the question where you get your Tein so cheap for, is because there is a big problem outlined here:

i've driven both. look at my previous posts

eibach performs better. it's firm. unlike the tein is too soft and bottoms out more often.

I got some of them teins but box is different and Tein is printed on spring not sticker. I am guessing that the warning is refering to the Americans?

tenji`
28-09-2009, 02:06 PM
the sticker on the coils is the fake teins as they should be printed on the coils.

Installed mine lastnight.

Still waiting for the springs to settle in regards to ride height so regarding ride height its alright at the moment but im hoping it would come down a bit more when it settles.

Overall the drive is still comfy so none of that is lost, less bodyroll, general consensus is its good great for the price they are. Way better than the king springs in terms of ride quality.

I didnt install my adjustable camber bushes either and probably wont do so until i need them.

Will post up pics later tonight.

Springs usually take about a week to settle to its proper height. Took this pic this morning so still sitting a bit high. After driving it around today ive started noticing it getting lower so i will take another photo in a week.

Will probably have to say these will probably rival eibachs for price and comfort.

The drop is supposed to be 40mm front 30mm rear.

Also fulcrum sell the adjustable camber bush kit also for those who want to adjust theirs. I bought a brand new set of them but i couldnt be bothered fitting the bushes so will be putting them up for sale.

Yeh your spot on Felix, the euro should have come from factory sitting a lot lower than what it does.

I think the suspension has pretty much settled now and front gap is just about 2 fingers and the rear is just under 2 fingers.

Yeah the evo 5 is my non practical money pit. Does me proud though has earned its place in the family lol Should be pushing 390+ kws at all 4 at the Evonats later in the month. Its currently only a tad over 350 now.

can the extra 190 for springs be justified?

Just got my eibach pro kit springs installed today.. after some testing in some bumpy warrandyte twisty roads, i'm extremely happy with the ride. I was paranoid that on stock shocks riding on 18inch it would be a back breaking ride. The ride is only slightly stiffer then stock shocks, but when i attack the corners even on bumpy surface, the car is more responsive and i'm confident with the turn in... it looks great and its just right, not too low...

I have not driven on tein springs so can't compare.

Was a choice between the s-techs and eibach pro kit for me but i went with the eibachs because it wasnt too expensive after shipping from america as i was ordering another set of springs at the same time.

anyway, anyone know if my stock 17" wheels will scrub with the eibach pros on?

It won't scrub, the drop isn't that much. Looks nice but not impracticle for daily driving.

sorry to hijack the thread, but has anyone here tried the tanabe NF210 springs?? They say that it is for comfort and they don't really mention anything about handling... Also it is 1.5inches drop all round, would it look funny because all the other springs have different front and rear drops??

Im planning to run these springs with the bilstein shocks, or get tein ss coilovers. Can anyone suggest which of these 2 are the better ones in terms of handling?? Cheers!

mann after glancing at all of this, i STILL dont know 100% which to get.
i want a nice drop but obviously not slammed as its a daily driver and i want it to be as close to stock in the feeling as possible as i want it to feel like its still OEM for comfort, would like a little better handling but not at the cost of comfort if that makes sense?

i dont know where you get the info from but the drop is not 1.5inch all round. it is more at the front as euro is taller at the front and hence they make it lower compared to the rear.

[F] -30mm ~ -40mm
[R] -25mm ~ -35mm

price wise is very competitive. drop is nice.. feeling is like standard.

Hey Mate

Glad to hear you are happy with the new set up. I am wanting to do it too, just a subtle drop, I don't want it to look too low, just so the rims fill the arches more.

I would love to see a picture of you car post the change if you could. Also, did you have to do anything to the shock too and do your rear wheels now look like they are on a slant (ie the top of the wheel in closer to the center of the car than the bottom of the wheel.)

Also, where did you get it done and roughly how much.

Your answers will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I thought about going down Eibach pro kit springs + Bilstein shocks road as well, but after some research might as well go for coilovers, pretty much the same price and they're height adjustable as opposed to just springs... but then again how often do you raise/lower your car?

For me it's just the wank factor of having coils :P
