Does anyone know the difference between the 23T and 25T caliper bracket from the 17CL15VN dc2r/bb6 (maybe some other cars) brake calipers?

im doing the dc2r brakes > ek4 hub conversion, and everywhere ive searched on US sites it says to machine 3.2mm off the 23T bracket. But what about the 25T bracket?

isnt that means the thickness of rotors youre suppose to use?

23t = made for 23mm rotor
25t = made for 25mm rotor
28t = made for 28mm rotor
well thats what i can gather from the thread

not 100% sure how much you'll need to machine off each caliper though

hoo.. yea thickness, not diameter.

thats strange because afaik jdm/audm dc2r and bb6 come with 25t brackets, but every trader supplies 23mm rotors for them

well that's the thing you're doing a hybrid setup so theres no definite part that will fit without worrying about another

afaik dc2r rotors are 23mm(dba478) and assuming you're using prelude vtec rotors are 23mm(dba200) too
so the 23t or 25t bracket should fit
they probably recommend shaving the caliper because the knuckle/hub itself has a different offset to the regular ek4/dc2 hubs(strange though because my 4x114.3 setup needed no shaving to fit the caliper and the rotors fit perfect and centered)

yeah i get what ur saying and yes u have to machine it because of the offset. but if 25t brackets come stock on dc2r abd bb6, then ud think dba478 and dba200 etc would be 25mm thick rather than 23mm, since they are replacement parts for that car. but looks like people have been putting them on their car for years and it works without a problem

Simple math indicates that:

Rotor thickness = 23mm
Bracket gap = 28mm (where the rotor goes into)
To centre the gap onto the centre of the rotor = (28-23)/2 = 2.5mm on each side

Distance from hub to rotor = 14mm, thickness of the mounting bracket = 14mm
and since they're the same, therefore to accomodate the change, just mill 2.5mm off the 23T bracket.
