:)
hi guys
to all u S2000 owners, im not sure if anyone is aware of this but i found out a way of getting rid of that ugly wind noise that most s2000 drivers hate when driving at speeds over 60kms.
whilst i was putting a new sound system in my car 2day i accidently hit the softtop button on the side that tries 2 take the top off and it was still clipped in.
when i pressed the button, the soft top tried 2 flick back but since the clips are connected to it. i actually slipped itself into a tight seal which was pretty much wind and water proof.
i then relised that by putting ur soft top up and then clipping it in and trying 2 open back up, this creates a seal that cannot be done by the standard clips.
the top of the roof actually molds straight into the front visor area and it looks as if the softtop is connected properly to the car.
i then took it for a drive and the amount of noise inside the cabin was reduced by almost 100%
i couldnt believe i was driving my S with no music on in 80kms an hour and barely any noise was inside the car...except the engine ofcourse :p
hope this helps =]
ill post up pictures tonight on exactly wat im on about

ohh ... i accidently did that once too and saw the tight sit but thought it would be bad for clips tho so didnt wanna do it too much, since everytime u put roof on u pull it bak against clips again, over time itll prob wear the clips more

i'd be interested to see how long it lasts before your strikers are pulled clean off from the windscreen frame

doesnt seem like it could cause 2 much damage.it just snugs in that little bit more.
seems like itll apply the same amount of force as having to put the clips on it in the 1st place. a lot of people adjust the clips wif new screw holes and this is like kind of the same way as doing that.

We already know of a good fix, get some electric shrink wraps from jaycar for about $1 put about 3 layers on each hook and heat shrink each layer with a blow dryer, done no more wind noise.

Or the old 2 washers under the striker bolt trick also works.

i think i under stand what you mean, hmm im going to go have a look, all i do is clip the roof off then repress the "close" button and it pulls down a extra bit... no problems at all, wind proof to very fast... is this like the opposite of what you are saying?

correct.
you close the soft top, clip it up then try 2 open the top again and all it does it tighten it.
all u have 2 do is hold the button 4 like a second MAX and it will clip into place.
it dont see it damaging it anywhere as much as what some people have said so far....because its not like ur holding it for 5 seconds trying 2 constantly pull the top back.

Guys, all you need to do is replace the worn latches and strikers. Expensive but they wear over time which is normal. I replaced mine at 60k and it has now 105k on it but still no noise.

Why not just swap them over if you cant afford it? the wear is only on one side lol.

i have put black electical tape on the hooks, more on the drivers side, works well for me.
