Hi Guys, I'm looking at getting a 4th gen prelude however have seen that accords also have the H22 Engine too even if only the JDM.. Is the swap for the F22 Series easy/common.. also if i'm going to do a swap is it worth looking for a manual or is it easy to swap auto to manual? why are there no manuals were they shit or the auto was good...

hey mate,
Im presuming you are talking about a 5th gen accord.

they did not relase them in australia with the h22a, only the f22b1 (vti and vti-s).

I'm 80% sure that the f22b1 box will fit onto the h22a. However, im not too sure and it wouldnt really save u all that much to keep your f22b1 box if ur paying some1 else to do it, plus it complicates things and is more work ...

is it common?
Yes definately
Is it easy?
It is the easiest engine swap. It is a direct fit in except for 2 engine mounts which must be changed (unless u have to do auto to manual swap).

Easy to swap auto f22b1 to manual h22a-
Not extremely hard, it has been done many times.

how much?
h22a plus manual box- $2500-$3500 (depending on if u buy a halfcut which u should).
h22a plus auto box- $2000-$3000

Buy a front cut, will mean u get the engine mounts and anything else u can salvage.

i should mention the wiring is not particuarly easy if u intend to do it urself.

F series gearboxes don't fit on H series engines.

Your prelude is fitted with the H23 motor i presume not a F22B1.

You can build a H23 Vtec by using the H22a head on your existing motor, but a straight H22a engine swap is best.

You can convert your lude from auto to manual but your better of just selling and getting a manual.

Hope that helps.

F series gearboxes don't fit on H series engines.

F and H series gearboxes are interchangable
