Hi there! ive just recently purchased a dc2 vtir..im just wondering what is the normal temp reading on the gauge after warm up as its seems that mine would stay on cold for a while and after 10-15minutes of driving it will only reach just a little over 1/4 way between COLD and HOT so im just wondering if this is normal??

It should only take a few mins to get up to normal temp. Definatly under 5mins. Maybe your thermostat is stuck/failed open, or partly.

A very common DC2 problem. The thermostat is faulty. Replace it and your problems will go away.

The normal operating temp is about 45% up the gauge. Below that you will most likely get no VTEC because engine temp is not up to speed and VTEC solenoid will not fire.

It also depends on what your doing.....

Driving the car = 5mins to get to normal temp
Car sitting in garage at idle = 10+ mins

would it be worth getting like a Js racing thermostat over a OEM one?? would there be any difference??

The aftermarket ones, spoon, mugen etc, just open at an earlier temperature, so instead of 90 degrees oem, it will open at 80 degrees or so.

If your just using the car for street use/normal driving, get oem. Aftermarket is just for track.
