driveshaft compatibility

Feel like a n00b asking this, but are all d series shafts interchangeable. i need left side for a ek. a mate has eg ones but i'm not sure if they will fit.

And i did search here, HT and civic-EG but not straight answer, so keep your smartass comments to yourselves

thanx for the reply, i've been reading up on d series as well and form that i can gather they are interchangeable between the sohc engines and not dohc to sohc,
