i am in the market for a dc2r atm and seeing how they are quite old its quite hard to find a decently priced and yet good condition dc2r. some of them seem in a really good nick but are heaviliy modified or used to be heavily modified(but then again i'm a noob with cars so maybe not heavily but the mod list is heaps long etc).

i browsed through forums where someone was buying a car with high kms people responded with something like 'as long as blah blah blah blah.. and its stock its fine'

so i was just wondering does modding a car reduce it's reliability or something?

if it does reduce reliability does that mean a guy who is parting out and selling his dc2 stock is not the same as a person who has NEVER modded his car before.

thanks in advance guys.

It all depends upon the type of mods. Mods include anything from a aftermarket panel filter to a turbo kit.
Extreme mods that place more stress on the engine and driveline components will inevitably shorten the life and may lead to a more temperamental car...all depends on how the mods have been carried out and how the car is treated.

However, a stock car that has been thrashed and received inadequate servicing/maintenance can be just as problematic for the next owner.

Assess each car u look at based upon its own qualities. If u find a car that already has the mods that u would probably do anyway... don't rule it out.

Modding does not reduce reliability on its own. Id be more concerned how its been driven, quality of parts used, installation and tunning.

Life of a car is greatly increased if its been looked after. Regular servicing and oil changes etc.
