"Mugen high performance oil filter provide 30% more efficient filtration, 10% reduction in pressure drop and suitable for high temperature environment"

Has anyone actually tried using the mugen oil filter? noticed any difference between the mugen and oem one?

trying to justify the costs of buying a mugen oil filter over a oem considering the mugen oil filter is 3-4x more expensive than oem.

Just go Oem. They would be little to no difference, except for price.

I think the Mugen one is shorter, so if you have some mods that may "hit" a normal filter (such as too low etc.) then the Mugen one will suit better.

Alot of these filters are made by the same manufacturer, just branded differently.
I use OEM honda oil filters on a highly strung B series with no negative effect.

I guess for most cars, even the ones you get from repco would be sufficient - The only danger is if you don't maintain your car and the filter gets clogged with gunk, then it wouldn't be much use even if your filter costs $1000.
