Found this gem in carsales.com. Wonder how good it really is from the lack of driving it's had over the last 18 years ????? Interior pics look immaculate and if it has been regularly serviced it may be OK mechanically wise, but not sure if it is really worth $8,000. Any thoughts ?

looks very very tidy !

noticed the kms meters doesnt line up properly...many may argue that there's a possibility its been wind back? but some say numbers are not meant to line up perfectly as well? thoughts?

I've seen ours go from 90,000 k's when we bought it to 301,000 9 years later so with a bit of experience I think what we see here is that the numbers are jostling in readyness to hit 40,000. Though these ED's are pretty good rugged reliable car, it still is 18 years old and $8,000 seems a bit over the top, maybe $5,000 to $6,000 is closer to the mark ????

If it was a EF I'd be more excited, sure its low K's and could probably belong in a museum but come on.

i think if its going into 40,000 numbers would only start go out of line around, 39,xxxkms. atm its on 38xxx and 5 of the digits dont match. :s

saying that, like i've mentioned, many says number are not meant to line up.

$8000 is abit much i reckon, even for its low milage.

i used to have an EF crx, very reliable car

Mine never really lined up properly, hmm.

1-3k? Beaters go for 2k. I checked one out today for 850$, looked clean in the sale pics, but there wasn't one panel or corner without rust festering out of it. It also had a tonne of positive camber on the drivers wheel and a pillar made of bog. lol.

a pillar made of bog. lol.

Sure it wasn't an AH?

Or was mine just doing well?

It certainly is a neat and tidy car. However, finding someone prepared to pay the asking price is another matter. Whilst the owner might feel it's worth $8000 you have to find someone who's equally prepared to part with that amount of $$$, especially when you consider other cars you could buy for a similar amount that would be more advanced technically, provide more creature comforts, and be easier to service (eg. EFI, 4 wheel discs, etc). And don't forget when the next owner goes to sell they have the same problem all over again, with the additional concerns of adding more 'realistic' kilometres on it. So you might find someone buy it and then just garage it. Anything else would result in rapid depreciation. Be interesting to see if it sells!

If you want to known the Kms Meter Genius or not check the Kms printed on the invoices (it should be printed on every service invoice) and Log book. Also get Honda service centre a call (that service the car) and ask the service history.

18 years and 38k on the dial? unless they drove it a few kays a week every week i wouldnt trust it, it may have sat in a shed for 10 years and seized and damage, but why spend that when u can get a newer car for the same price? low kays who cares, still an old car.

i agree with STTICH also

Unless it was the top of the line ED Civic, no one would pay 8k for it.
Maybe if it was converted to a B16a or a H22a thats when you might consider talking tho dollars

I'd buy it.

It'd have to look and feel like it rolled of the showroom floor though.

Funny thing is, in Japan a 1G teg sold (to a Canadian) for 7,800USD not long ago.

Had similar k's

I'm still trying to get in touch with the buyer.

DLO01 was on the market a few months ago and I would have grabbed it, even if it was well over the 25k mark.

I would have this time last year, but times and situations change.

Your car has 4x the amount of mileage, how can you compare it.

Mint old cars are expensive people, get over it.

It's an auto - so who gives a crap anyway?

Let's face it dudes, the car is 18 years old and power-nothing. No EFI or anything either. It's gonna be a pain in the ass sooner or later. It's maybe worth $3000-$4000 max.

My folks bought my first car ---> '86 corolla sedan for $3500 in '03. It was my brother's until '06. I wrote it off last year and at 22 years of age it had 157 000 KMs on it. The body was immaculate, same with interior, and I put in a $1k sound system. Exterior was completely schmick and detailed weekly by me.
That's a good car and it's reliable as hell, so who the hell would pay $8k for this thing? <lol>
