Hi everyone, so finally ive decided to start a thread on my beloved ek1 after a couple of months wait. I wasn't sure of whether to post it in the intro section or here, but i thought this will be mainly about the build so. However, a bit of an intro:

I'm from melbourne eastside, bought the ek1 in mid-december 08 as my first car. Got it from a dealer, was a rushed purchase so paid a little bit higher than average. However the D16 has only clocked about 60,000km so it was smooth as f:eek:k.

Thanks guys, the exterior paintjob was going to cost 2k. But I dented one side of the rear quarter so had to get that replaced as well. This panel + labour costed me 1k, so all up 3k. Very happy with the paint so reps to Vu and the crew from DT panels.

Just got my rear LCAs upgraded to blox al-6160 today, at the moment saving up for a rear sway bar + asr subframe kit. Then id probably get a buddy club n+ street coilovers for that perfect drop!

yer i was going to get a set of buddy club p1 sf, 16'' gunmetal, but no money..

but these 17'' dont look it they somehow look smaller.. ill get more pics done soon after polish and wax

does anyone know a good cannon muffler (n1 style) which isnt ricey sounding? i have 2inch piping catback but thinking of changing the muffler just for looks..

I guess it's personal opinion, but i'm not a big fan on the canons. You tend to just look like every other 'ricer' because you just hear so so many sh*t sounding ones around!

I'd recommend a hi-tech sports muffler (Hi-Tech Mufflers in Sydney) - I just had a Hi-tech s/s cat and 2 inch back piping with sports muffler installed + 4inch angle tip and it sounds f*king awesome. Deep and smooth, no rasp in it all - just the way a Honda should be. And it looks good too + a 10 year warranty and all products are dyno proven:

Often those cheaper canons sounds ricey towards the middle/top end of the rev range, but not Hi-tech. It's so funny watching people turning around because they just don't believe a little Civic can sound that good. It's worth every penny in my opinion.

hmm, i might look into it, just had a talk with a mate he said with stock d16 engines if i was to use cannon (straight thru design) mufflers i wont have backpressure, and that my current setup with a triflow muffler is best for the engine that i have

i guess i might just get a bigger tip and have the muffler positioned a little bit lower, i might need to cut the lip a bit so i can have the tip sit flush like yours alvis. did yours come stock like that?

get a xforce twin loop u have a choice of the s10 and s12
s10 has a smaller barrel and s12 has a long and bigger barrel,its a copy of the mugen twinloop but u wouldnt wanna spend that much just on looks, anyways ways looks good and doesn't sound loud unless u give it, i like it cuz it doesn't give me a headache when im driving.

which one do you have EK1_D, and im guessting the S10 is the copy of the mugen twinloop because they are both round?

in terms of the sound, do you know if there is any difference between the two? which is louder or deeper etc?

i have the s10 i havent heard the s12 yet but i think the s12 should sound softer cuz bigger barrel, its a soft deep sound not farty like most cannons.

btw do you have a hotdog resonator on your system? i went to see an EK today with the s12 axle back, with stock piping from the cat. its VERY quiet, even my setup is louder.

do you think if i was to have no hotdogs it would sound louder? but would it be rice raspy?

Just FYI, the Xforce S10 twinloop was discontinued quite a long time ago (and replaced by the S12) so it might be hard to get a hold of one.

so you dont know? im worried if my painter says its gonna be painted in 2pack and then painted in acrylic.

later on i would probably found out since it chips easily, but wont be able to do anything about it because i already paid.

to be honest, i reckon as long as you go to a reputable painter, they wont **** you over.

theres a few suggestions of good painters in another thread, such as Upanel. auswide panel, ashwood panel etc. but you know where i stand. Dt panels for the win :D

Good to see some nice clean ek's out there!! if only you came to the rooftop meet could of had some nice photos taken. You're doing very well going down the right path but i dislike how your going style but dw i did the same when i first got mine i had the ek9 look but i wasnt satisfied so i went LEGIT EK9 BRO! feels better lol OEM! and the whale penis, sucks up to much air IMO! i had one didnt like it. WHERES THE 5 STUD HUH!!!!!!!


Anyways we'll meet up sometime during holidays or even earlier if you guys want. Most likely End of first week or second week of holidays :D Let you guys know when i got a date.

yeah sang im not sure about that either, i think im done with cosmetic, i want to do performance now.. but for the same amoutn of money to do a b18c conversion, i could save up a little bit more, sell my ek and buy a ep3 or dc5, which has more safety and luxury features,better interior, more performance, etc etc. i just dont know what to do.

and yeah i think im going to chuck the stock air box back in, just without the resonator. the whale paenis is just a wank factor, everytime i show it to people at uni they just go O.O. but no performance benefits whatsoever.

by the way where did you get the front and rear lip? im getting sick of my replifake lips and want to go oem. they cost ****en heaps!!

got it from modproject. fitment was near-oem. its just that its really low and i have to go at 0 kmh to get up my driveway.

lol... I've always wanted a Mugen style lip on my car. Its just that I have a steep driveway aswell. Dunno how i'll go. Im gonna check the clearance of my driveway take a rough measurement and get back to you. If all is well then I'll trade you no probs buddy. :)
